I've been putting off sealing my 6pak hood for 2 years because the carb sits above the hood line, I thought it would be hard to do but I mocked it up with cardboard and it turned out to work fine with a flat piece of aluminum. Thanks for the awesome piece of aluminum by the way MrPbody!
I will eventually bond this to the bottom of the hood with a hole in it for an air cleaner so I can run it on the track the same way as the street but hopefully next saturday I'm gonna track test this huge pan.
I modified the return spring slightly so it won't hang up on the pan at full throttle. I also made a bracket to hold it down to the carb at speed, and I'll be testing jets with the pan too. I'll let you know how it goes!

I am just in the process of making one for my Dart, the pan is even larger than yours due to the size of the hemi scoop.
What type of foam have you used.

Looks like it will work good. On my sixpak hood I glued a piece of lexan to the bottom of the hood then used a standard Moroso pan and made a hole in the lexan accordingly.

Mine is 32x29. Should be about a tenth quicker.

I used 1 1/4" air conditioning foam from the local hardware store.

Mine was worth a tenth and a little over 1 mph. In the cooler night air it really picks up around 1000'.

Is that a .10 from a non-sealed scoop to sealed or from no scoop at all?

.10 from a non sealed six pack style scoop.

My old DartSport had a pro stock style hood scoop, it was narrow and fit nice and close to the tunnel ram carbs, but I still dropped a 1/2 tenth by sealing the scoop.

I would adapt that air pan to the baseplate of a drop-base air cleaner assy. so you can run an air filter. It also will keep it off the hood. I had one a while back that was bonded to the hood and it annoyed me because it was always in the way or getting beat up from supporting all of the weight of the hood when it was off the car.

I'm working on an air pan for mine too, is the aluminum 0.0625 or is it 0.125 thick. I can't decide if the thinner will be rigid enough.

that looks nice Bob. it is too bad the carb box was hard to adapt with fuel line,linkages to keep the carb,fuel cooler also.
your pan looks like it will be stable held by the float screws.i am sure you will have good results.

like other post, try to use a drop base it will help air intake.

--------------------------------------------------Duct tape is kinda ugly, but it keeps the foam (pipe insulation) on. The silicone adhesive kept comming loose. Aluminum measures .077 thick.

I forgot to mention that I used the Moroso replacement foam for the dragster scoop. It was cheap, fire retardant and dense enough to cut with a bread knife. You will probably need at least two of the replacement foam kits, minimum.
