I'm new to this mini starter stuff... Ive been through the archives. I'm having an issue with the main stud on the starter contacting the block on my 440 powered 69 Satellite. Has anybody had a similar issue with this?? There is no adapter on it. I'm thinking I might be able to cut down the length of the stud and then wedge a piece of rubber between it and the block. Any suggestions?? Thanks, Scott

What mini starter are you using ? I'm using one from small block Dodge truck on my 440 and it's close to the block but not touching.

Mine had a extension piece on it and it was fine when I had it on small blocks but I had to take it off when I went to the big block,,,,
just unbolted it and bolted the wire on the stud that goes in the housing.

Quote:
grind the stud down so it's flush with the nut when tightened, also grind a small notch on the block above the stud
did the same here less the block grind.
