just wondering what you guys use to hold your hoods on? painting my car now, and have been using zeus fasteners but i cant get the hood off in a hurry if i need to.(had a small fire under the hood i was able to put it out with a extingisher through the scoop) anyway, so i was wondering if using 4 pins(2 front and 2 rear) would be good enough to hold it on. as always, thanks for the help guys!

I have a steel hood on my Coronet but on my 69 RR I had to put 3 in the front, 2 in the back with a six pac scoop crossing at 127 mph. The scoop plus air pressure in the grille would force the center of the hood up past 120 mph.

Hood pins are not enough unless you run bracing under the hood.

I use these (Jegs, Summit)

I had 4 hood pins on my fiberglass 6 pack hood, at 120 plus the center would lift up about 4 inches. Had to install 4 extra quarter turn fastener in the center of the front and rear of the hood. So far at 128 mph no problems, It actually bent all 4 of my hood pins that held the hood on.....Matt

I use 7 hood pins on my 63's hood with the Max Wedge scoop. I have 3 across the back as the middle of the rear would start to lift some at 115 mph. The front is pretty strong with the seam there and 2 are fine in the front. So I have 2 in the front and middle and 3 across the back. I just use hood pins as its kinda more vintage. Ron

So far 5 pins have been fine @ 124.5 MPH . Not sure about the new set up expecting around another 15 MPH more with the elephant.
