I have a chance to purchase a set of moser axles but they are just a little too long. If I switch to a spool will the axles go farther into a spool since there are no spider gears and pins? Even if I were to cut the axles they would be about 1/4 inch too long with my LS rear.
thanks

As a rule of thumb...

8 3/4" axle end gap for sure-grip 1.5"

Dana 60 axle end gap for sure-grip 1.75"

If you run a spool and the axle splines are long enough, the ends of the axles can almost touch each other.

Dr. Diff.
Is a spool splined all the way through and if so what is the price for a spool for a ford 9 inch with 35 spline axles?
I tried to ask through privite message but it says your quota has been exceeded.
Thanks
Steve

Most spools are not splined all the way through.

F-9 spools run about $150

Do you need to run longer axels on an 8.75 with a spool?

You can, but it is not necessary.
