So right now all I've done is disconnect the linkage attached to the carb, are you saying that if I take the linkage off the car it will fry the clutches??
Also, am I doing any damage by just having the linkage disconnected?
Thanks! Greg
Exactly what is being said. Kickdown is misnomer for the throttle pressure control linkage. The linkage controls the throttle pressure of the transmission therefore controling the shift points of the transmission. Without it it shifts with low pressure and clutch slipage frying the clutches is the result. Don't take long either.

John You're repeating yourself.
And will continue to do so each time someone makes the assumption that the linkage is only for "passing gear".
It's all part of my one-man mission to end the use of the term "kickdown linkage". Such is the nature of monomania.
You are not alone. Read my post above.

How do I adjust the Lokar cable so that everything works properly?
What was wrong with the old hard linkage that made you want to disconnect it??
