I know a pic would help, but I think something is not right on my 67 Coronet RT. I am rebuilding the car and just installed the rear axle assemble with new 1" over ride height espo springs. I am using 15 X 7 magnum 500 wheels with 255/60/15 tires. When I mounted the rims and tires there is less than an inch clearance from the front of the tire to the body of the wheel well. There is way too much room behind the wheel to the wheel well. its like it is moved forward 3-inches. The springs are not backwards and I have the 7 leaf on the right and 6 leaf on the left. Anyone have any ideas? I will update this with a pic tonight. Thanks.

They were not till I put the car on the ground. They still point towards the rear (not correct) but much better than they were. The car is just a shell at this this point.

Mike sounds like you have Plymouth front hangers on those springs. 66-7 Dodges have a dif wheel base than Plymouth. 117" on Dodges, 116" on Plymouths So, if you have Plymouth hangers on a Dodge, the wheel would be 1" too close to the front of the opening.
OR.....
They sold you S.S. springs and you need the correct longer front hanger. stock spring front segment lenght is 22" measured from locating pin to front bushing hole and SS's measure 20".
I just did a swap from stock to S.S. springs on my 66 Satellite and using the correct plymouth hangers, the tire is right where it was from the front of the wheel well (exactly 2" with 245/60/15). BTW, the shackle direction has no bearing on the location of the axle, that's all done by the front segment length. and all of my shackles have the bottom pointing just to the rear as should be (with weight on the suspension). If the shackles pointed forward (spring hole forward of frame hole), the car would raise then fall during suspension travel when the rear segment of the spring flattens out (lenghtens). this would be a good indicator that the spring is either the wrong one for the car or the wrong front hanger is used

Todd, You hit the nail right on the head! I actually do have Plymouth front hangers from a 67 GTX in there.. wow, you do learn something new everyday!
I did measure the springs, 22" front and 36" so they are correct.
So 67 Plymouth hangers are different than 67 Dodge hangers.. I would have never thought that..
Thanks!

FYI... I just went outside and measured:
Plymouth Hangers: From the front of the hanger, back to the bolt hole is 2 1/2". To the end of the hanger itself is 3 1/2"
Dodge Hangers: From the front of the hanger, back to the bolt hoe is 3 1/4". To the end of the hanger itself is just under 4 1/2"
So this means if I put the Dodge Hanger back in there it will position the front spring back 1 1/4" giving me around >2" clearance.
Thanks!!
