While we are on hoods....Does anyone know of a source for these (two) recessed rubber bumpers used on both the T/A and AAR hoods? They do not come in the E-body kits.

Thanks for clearing that up Ken, I do not look at the AARs as closely as I do the T/As. I admit to a slight bias.....

I am not aware of a source for the bumpers? If they are not being done yet, I can supply originals to Bill if he wants another item to take on.

Is that the bumper at the rear corners of the hood? I hadn't realized they were different from the steel hood bumpers. Is it the same height? I suppose I could drill a repro steel hood bumper for a screw if Bill doesn't come up with something.

No number on it that I can see, but the screw will not budge, so I can not check the back side just yet...

I did get the screw out of the far side, but that bumper is missing on my hood.

7/16 - 1/2" OD and 1/4" tall? Yet a 1-1/2" screw

I thought it odd too?

I wonder if it helped hold the hood hinge mount in place during the 'glass work or something.......

Ok, back the subject at hand.
these just in 3.25" overall length + right at 1.5" folded over. And the ends look like the OE straps with at least what appears to be a very similar style clamping ends

On the rubber bumpers look at http://www.mcmaster.com Check out page 3700 what they sell may not be perfect but it's close enough that unless someone brings their calipers it would be very convincing... & the one thats closest is less than $10.00 for 100..

I was wrong. The T?A has the straps (or at least one of them). The AAR has the clips and screws.

Ken

Ken,
the clips look like they might be the same as the cowl clips on B-bodies , if so is it a #10 pan head screw

Bill:
They are. Both screw and clip are zinc plated. Just had mine redone. I find it interesting that Chrysler would use two different methods to accomplish the same task. The screw / clip method makes for a cleaner install. No sags.

Rear bumper and screw: I got the same screw length as Barry.

Many thanks to everyone who helped, and especially Bill for coming up with this much needed part. Now when I see a car missing these at a show, I can let the owner know where to find them.

Possible reason for the long screw, note the shim washers on the low mile T/A.

So Barry you are saying the screw was to long so they made it shorter by just sticking a few washers under the head
{ie} used what they had laying around since they just needed so few screws?

Nope.

I am saying that it is possible they used a long screw for this applicataion so the hood could be shimmed (as needed) to meet the upper fender line better.
