Overkill the drivetrain. Billet yoke, SOLID 1350 joints coupled with the best driveshaft you can afford. 300 to 400 dollars spent on that will save your Trans.

I guess I could get a driveshaft from a junk yard that takes 1350s, cut it down myself and put good u-joints and billet yokes on it. Will that be strong enough?

You can't cut it down unless you can balance it. Have a good shop build a heavy wall shaft or go with moly or alum. Most heavy duty truck shops have a drive line shop and can build custom driveshafts.

As I launched, this broke. 1.40 60ft in a 2800lb truck in this heat. This is a OEM pc with spicer 7260 u-joints. All the u-joints look and feel fine. The drive line angle at the front u-joint is about 2 degress off but I would think the u-joint would have failed if that was a facor.
It also took out the tail housing of the trans. I'll have to pull the trans and check the sprag and the output shaft.
When it hit the drive shaft loop, it put some dings in the drive shaft so I will build a new drive shaft.
What should I do? Build a drive shaft with 1350s and billet yokes or use OEM parts? Thanks, Scott.
