Been thinking about playing with my ladder bar setup on my Challenger and was wondering where most of you guys ran yours at. Mine are currently in the middle. You guys that have tried lowering/raising the bars what were your results?

Lowering the front gives a softer hit on the tires
but sustains the hit longer

Lower hole usually works for non NHRA prepped tracks.

I'm currently running mine in the bottom hole...to soften the hit on the tires...it really depens on how the car is set-up and the surface you are racing on. If your car is spinning any at the starting line now, or your 60's are off from run to run ,i doubt that you would want to raise your bars... ..if you raise the bars it will hit harder, so if your spinning now it will only amplify the problem by raising them. There is a noticeable difference in the launch of the car by moving those bars around,at least with my car..and in my case with running a 9 inch slick and racing weekly and a marginal track i wanted less hit and more consistancy...i have been playn' around with bar placement and weight ballast for 2 months now and for me,at my track the lower hole seems to be the ticket..

Lower will work better. If they are high the back of the car will raise while its trying to push harder on the tire and then take away weight transfer. Usually one hole down from the bar sitting level to the ground is a good starting point. Here is a pic of my car with true 10.5's 1.25 60'

If you have a good converter I like the middle hole...You must raise the wheelie bars up, or they will unload the tires and the car will spin and become very inconsistant...poppaj

Middle hole is to generic it depends where the crossmember is mounted, tire size and the ride height of the car

with my car at ride height and weight I set my bars at 3deg down in the front and it seems to be working well have yet to try any other holes.

Interesting stuff guys. I also heard that on the bottom hole the car will work better on the starting line but lose e.t. down track. Any experience with this?

just clarifying something for myself on this post, sorry not trying to hijack, but if the ladder bars are pointing uphill, wouldn't that make the car prone to wheelstanding?

Yes if it doesnt bounce the tire of the ground from
too hard of a hit

I doubt that, if its to high the car will be ill handling on the big end.

A lot depends on the bar hole placement in relation to the neutral line, wheelbase, total torque at the hit, CG height and front rear location, trans type,,,,,,
My dart is 106 WB with 3000 lbs, torqueflite, 6400 stall, 4.56 gears, a little high on motor placement, with 800 torque at the flexplate on the hit.
If I am slightly above the neutral line in the middle hole, it rises slower due the rear being forced up at the start. If I put it in the bottom hole, it jerks the tires out of the beams at the same time the rear squats, and rotates around the CG in aa hurry, hitting the 66 inch wheeliebars so hard it unloads the tires. I can feel it happen. This is with a 33.6 x15x15 tire, the 33x 15 radial slicks spun, and would lift the front slower, although they did 60 ft faster by at least .02
