I am running 117 mph in 1/4 with 72 barracuda full weight, 496, 64mw Heads, 260/600 flat tappet, 5600 flash stall, 2" hooker,Indy single plane, 12-1 compression. I have a problem with water getting in the oil after the engine comes to temp. Not a head gasket problem. Out of work so no budget. If I go with 452's with 2.14 intake and bowl blending only and a tm-7(I have these parts and want to race something) how much am I going to lose in HP?

Not sure, but something's bad wrong w/ that combo if it'll only run 117 mph in the 1/4. CHIP

I have switch from a M.W. top end, intake carb and heads to a set of 906 with a TM7 and a 750 Holley double pumper, there was around .30 ET loss and I don't remember how much MPH. Probally around 3 or 4 MPH, maybe a little more or less

You say its not a head gasket, why would you think
its a head, if its a crack in a cylinder wall you
will still have the same issues.... just thinking
out loud

I agree on the "bad wrong" Right now I have stock worn out rear springs and BFG dot street tires. I only made one pass and had no traction in first or second with 3.55 gears. I bought the tires before I was on this forum...learned the hard way. The car hooked in third but because of the gearing I was way too low on the rpm. I have a 4.30 and a 4.56 to choose from next time. I have alot to do but would like to enjoy it with my sons at the local street fights this summer.

wishfull thinking on the heads since I have the 452's to test it with. I have time but no budget.
If I run the 452's and still have the problem then I'll know it is the block.

Didn't mean to sound like I was bashing your ride. What I meant is that it sounds like it's way down on power from where it should be, but with the tire spin and lack of gear then it makes sense. I'd guess you'll be down 30-50 hp depending on the difference in head flow. CHIP

Did not take your comments as "bashing" I thought it would do better myself. I just have too many things that I have not sorted out yet. I have pulled the heads, inspected the cylinders, compression tests, but I can not see any signs of where the water is coming from. I see nothing on the plugs and all the valves are running about the same color. The head swap is the cheapest option I have and will tell me alot about what the problem may be.
Thanks for the comments

I'd get your MW heads magnafluxed by your local machine shop and see if they're cracked. If they've been ported then it's very common to find cracks in them. If the heads aren't cracked and it's not a head gasket problem, then I'd be looking for a splitting cylinder. Sometimes they start splitting from the bottom up... starts cracking at the main webbing and then hits water as the crack spreads up the cylinder. CHIP

Did you try some kind of stop leak? I've used Moroso part # 35500. Also try a lower pressure radiator cap.
