i have a 63 max wedge savoy that has always run a oe crossram on it. it has a 500 ci megablock which has run a best of 10.27 this year at 133.78
mph at cecil county.
car usually runs 10.30's-10.40 consistently
i have had this indy crossram intake on the shelf for a few years and was going to put it on my new motor but decided that i want this 63 to go a little faster. this should get me 9.90's-10.00 in the heat.
not sure how i feel right now changing a correct car to this aftermnarket piece. this was no easy task switching alot of things around in order to get the indy piece to fit properly.

heres the after pictures, just waiting for the silicone on the intake to dry and the permatex adhesive to dry on the valve covers before i fire it up and set idle and timing.
what do you think?should pick up .3-.4

Looks good Chris, I like the stock look,,,but the INDY is cool as well.
Is there any thought to running a "burst" valve ( or something to that effect ) on the manifold.
I know Bob George mods them,,,
Ran into a buddy up at the CC event,,,and he had a few "explosions",,,so he had a type of "relief or burst" valve installed by BG...
just curious....

i have a indy crossram on my 588 and never had a problem, its all in the jet tuning to get them to fire correctly.
others may say differently but i never had a backfire on my cars.
i think alot of the problems are that guys pump them too much causinga backfire.
i also know the correct metering rods also help greatly to improve idle and throttle response.

The old style crossrams aren't real good pieces. You should find what you are looking for in the Indy unit.

I think your asking a bit much out of the new set up
with a .3 - .4.... JMO

I'll be interested in the difference between the oe crossram and the indy intake. Everyone says 3 tenth's and Andy F. dyno comparo said 100hp. I struggled long and hard to get my motor to run with the oe intake. Keep us informed on the results.

I ran both on my 63 Dodge. I also dynoed both. the Indy made 55hp on my set up. It also raised the power peak from 5750 to 6850. It was a 500 -1 stock iron Indys,275/.670 roller. The car went a best of 10.33 w/cross ram, 10.18 w/
Indy intake. Eventualy by retarding the cam and running stock aluminum -1 it went 10.13 w/crossram. My intake was one of the 1st produced. I'm sure if I messed with it more it would have run better. Kenny Lazzari and Dave Duel told me to always start the motor with the throtlle depressed. That way if it did backfire (and I believe I remember that Daves did) the pressure in the Intake would escape by the open throttle blades preventing any damage. The new 572 will have the Indy but with the logos ground off and painted orange.

I picked up .22 when I went from the maxwedge to the Indy, one thing is that Maxwedge manifolds are all a little differnt, there can be a .1 difference between some of them, any Stock class racer will tell you that. As far as starting mine starts excellent with the Indy, I thought about a pressure relief, but after seeing how easy it starts, never thought any more about it. Mine starts up at a nice idle, never tough the gas after it's warm, cold take about four pumps, starts right up

IM hoping to get high 9's down at etown or atco, and 10 teens at lebanon valley.
years ago when i was running a 498 ci motor in my 65 dodge, it went 10.70's, with a oe crossram, out of the box with a indy inline 440-25 intake, it went low 10.30's.
with this motor i think its definitely doeable.

got them from mancini racing, stock looking bb valve covers.were like $24.99 when i got them, only ones that would work with a max wedge crossram and harland sharp rockers.
not the best quality but they work, i got a set bof aluminum ones i am going to put on but i need to get breathers put in 1st.
