What the heck happened to all those old modified production cars ?

We're just never gonna see an era even close to that again. Funny, back then, it didn't seem special. If i only knew what was going to happen to drag racing, i would have paid more attention.

Do you guys remember a Hemi Cuda from Sioux Falls called the "Hair Bender" ??

Also -- I've got a yellow '68 427/425HP Biscayne that was called "Ennis's Menace" also out of Sioux Falls.

...remember Erling Compson? I think he was already in his early 70's when I started racing at TVD. He would drive his little orange 70 Dart Swinger from Sioux Falls (that he bought new), jack it up, swap on the slicks, and go racing. Always thought that was pretty cool. Believe he passed on around eight/nine years ago.

Yeah, they have a Mopar memorial race for him
every year

His son built a real neat 68 Barracuda /hemi clone
kind of street car .. ran(very) low 10's on
street tires, drove it to and from track

He sold it. building some other way over the top
race car now

I have attached a 1974 T.V. schedule. Its a pocket schedule so I hope it scans good enough.

I look at this schedule and it conferms that, indeed, those were the good old days!!!

Does anyone know if this is the same car? It was driven by Don Hansen. I will have to ask Randy Stewart.
