Was wondering if the Comp XE268 cam would be a good choice for a street 416 sm block stroker with a 1971 intake and Thermoquad. It will be stock except for the obvious stroker kit, cam, and will have mild ported 2.02 J heads.
Thanks.

It will be a torque monster.Make sure you don't run too much compression with the iron heads and smali cam.

Too small IMHO

As mentioned, it may detonate with too much compression.

I would go larger, I ran the XE268 in a 318 and it worked really good but at 100cid larger it would choke it.

Are you planning on headers or stock manifolds? logs may require a custom grind.

I got that cam in a 451 stroker and I like it .Its still a choppy idle but works well to 6100 rpm in my Bee . It is very torquey thou , I like it for crusin . Works good with Tremec trans too . I also have RPM heads .

Unless I figured wrong my x block six pack small block stroker is at 452 inches, with a comp solid in the 270-280 @50 area, power comes on good about 4-7500....and is streetable to a point, makes good fun.

Sounds like a very mild roller....

This is the type of application that will really benefit from a custom ground cam. Call Dwyane Porter and he will set you up with what you want. Your car will idle and drive exactly the way you want, and it will be faster than with an off-the-shelf cam

if you're looking for a street driver with a decent idle and 0-5000 RPM performance and tons of torque, I think it'd work great

I put a .467/.480 roller cam in my 406 small-block stroker, and I have a smooth idle and gobs of torque. It's great for the street.

Hey pro451 bee! Nice ride! Reminds me of my first mopar! A 69 Roadrunner 383 4sp. Same color only with black striping. Don't see too many of this color any more...
