Is it an HP ? If not it's out of a C body or a Pickup , depends on what was built at Plant C.

If it's a G, and it's an HP, it's out of a B body most likely, depends on what was built at St. Louis (G) at that time. Not an HP it wasn't built at St.Louis at that timeframe.

It is definitely a "C". It is also has H440 stamped on the pad by the distributor. Does that make it a 1971?

Are there mill marks going in two directions across both pads? Hard to tell from the pics.
Generally it's expected to see concentric mill marks aligned parallel from a single axis.
In the late 80's - 90's re-stamps were getting going. Not saying that is the case in your pics.

No, the ones going from left to right are from me wiping it off with a wire brush.

H is 1972 but you already knew that from the VIN number. C plant is big cars like Chryslers.

Yes you can get an 440HP in a C body, but the non HP 440 was not available in a B in 1972 ... or any other year ...
