No idea, just going off the two videos posted. They said the car has been in the 6's with a different drivetrain and the current drivetrain was quicker in another car

It is a 5" Borespace 99/06, and yes a Goodwin staple for his truckpull stuff

Super cool Cuda, and Matt is a great tuner.

Broke a rod and tapped the wall. Matt is fine. Not sure how bad the damage is.

Car will need a new front end, door, and 1/4 panel. Hurts to see a good 71 Cuda grill get wiped out. Not as bad as I thought when I heard the news. Glad Matt is OK. He will be back, as this isn't going to stop him.

Alternator belt flew off, taking out the Dry Sump belt, which means zero oil pressure.

Aaaw man, that is a crazy way to go thru a small fortune for a stupid $40/belt!

Wow, hate seeing stuff like this. I understand all the fast cars seem to be running belt driven oil pumps. Never liked the idea of that. I know Steve Morris had an oil pump belt fall off and found it only after making a pass. No damage was found on the tear down. He has been using an oil additive RevX and now swears by it.
On a side note pertaining to belt driven oil pumps, did you know that Ford uses a belt driven oil pump in the pan on their 2.7 Eco Boost. Sounds like another bad idea to me.

It's really sad to see that car get wrecked. But wonderful that Matt is okay. Hopefully it's not too hard to fix and doesn't knock the wind out of his sails for too long.
The thing that popped into my head is that if the race, the race car, and the driver's own personal safety all depend upon that oil pump belt doing its job, maybe a guy could figure out a way to protect it. So that if the alternator belt flies off or some other peril, that it doesn't take the oil pump belt with it? This isn't the first time I've heard of this happening.

I agree. Seems like someone would make a deep pulley for that.

Sucks to see. So now day 1 he's out, Bailey is out, Lutz is out and I think Morris is struggling with the wagon as well.

They said Bailey may be joining the $7500 drag car challenge for the week, but he has to find a car (look up cleetus mcfarland channel, if anything its been very funny, they are on episode 2)

That really sucks about Matt's car. I am sure he has the data showing the voltage dropping then the oil pressure dropping. I think tire shake might have caused it all?

The big block big tire guys are sure in a tough spot with a 302 cubic inch mustang with a factory block and head casting in #1 overall.

The Snot Rocket is flying....no doubt. You would think with all the factory parts in his build, he would be the one having the breakage issues...

In the video they say that the motor didn't fail because of the belt. It threw the belt because of the engine failure. I was thinking "Matt, Rich, did you see the video? We can see the belt hit the track one second before the crash!" So I watched the video again at 12:23 in slow motion. I don't like the two step rpm and how it comes off of it. I think that's what broke it.
