My 4speed locked up on me othe other night from a night of hard shifti and me and a few friends took it out and opened up the side cover.. we noticed that there was only 1 ball bearing that was part of detent on the 3-4 shift mechanism..the other side for the 1-2 shift looks like it was missing..could this be part of my problem the the trans locking up on me?..

everthing else looked clean and no scoring or chewed up sycros...

thanks for any help!

There are 3 total , one on each shift lever on the side cover and one for reverse .

Thanks John - I grabbed the FSM and you are correcto mundo and I may be missing the pin also..

Could this have my gears some how locking up?..I would think it would be harder to shift but maybe somehow missing the correct position for the shifter?..I could not get it into any gear with the clutch depressed,..

missing parts in that I can see it causing a shifting issue as they lever would be allowed to land where they may and possibly have you trying to grab 2 gears at once .
