I drove my Challenger at 8:00 am this morning and at 6:00 pm this evening, I pulled the first plug to get a look and I found fresh gas on the plug. My first thought is fuel perculation thru the day time. The car was not running rich, so I assume that the pv is still good. I might recheck to make sure that I tightened it to the 100 in/lbs, but besides that, I assume that the wet plugs are not normal. Any suggestesions would be appreciated. Thanks

when you shut the car down pull a plug & see what you see, that will give you a timeline. What are you tightening to 100 inlbs?

Robert, I usually check the plugs within 10 minutes or so of shutting the car off and they are dry. But yesterday I did not have time until later in the day and that is when I found the wet plugs. 100 in/lbs [8ft/lbs] is the spec for a pv if my memory serves me correctly. Thanks

This has me thinking that I have had an issue with hard startups for the past several weeks. I am going to pull the front bowl and snug up my jets and my pv. Maybe one or the other has been leaking causing this issue. I have changed both items in the last 4-6 weeks. Thanks for the reply.

What Doc Fiberglass said I would suggest new needle/seats & a new fuel filter. Jets only go snug(there's no gasket on them) P/V's tighten them "reasonable"(there's a gasket on it) but I dont think the problem is with them.

Rapid, ""I would suggest new needle/seats & a new fuel filter.""
Could you explain why these items would have anything to do with gas on the plugs? Thanks, I just want to understand first.

I checked my bowls last night and they have only lost a small amount of fuel. I have them set at the bottom of the sight glasses and I can shake the motor and see fuel sloshing around inside. It appears that I am losing minimal amount of fuel but what still gets me is why is the fuel getting to the plugs. The fuel level is definately above the jets and it sure appears that it is still above the power valve level too. Also, it appears that both bowls have lost about the same amount which leads me back to hot fuel. Could the hot fuel expand enough with the fuel level set at the bottom of the sight glasses to seep into the intake? If so, how does it do it or what path does the fuel take to get into the intake from the bowls?
Note: I have a 3/4" black phenolic carb spacer with gaskets on top and bottom.
Note 2: I am wondering that since my air cleaner is black and totally covers up the top of the carb, I wonder if I was to drill a hole in my air cleaner base just above each bowl, if that would help get some of the heat up and away from the carb. Thanks a bunch.
