I tried making the wireform (thats the correct name) clips for the the chrome trim on the top of the 67-69 Barracuda doors. 75% of the customers said they worked great. The other 25% said they were TOO BIG, TOO SMALL, TOO THICK TOO THIN, TOO HARD, TOO SOFT, TOO HOT, TOO COLD, TOO SHINY, TOO DULL, TOO SPRINGY, NOT SPRINGY ENOUGH, BEND WAS TOO LARGE, BEND WAS TOO SMALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I threw $1000 worth of clips in tHe trash. I made the heavy wire steering column coupler cover clamps for 74 and up couplers that are 1/2" longer than the 65-73 couplers. 65-73 couplers are all 3" long overall. The 74 and up are 3-1/2". People would measure from the top of the coupler to the roll pin, from thier gas pedal to thier taillight, their hamster tail length. Everything but the overall length of the coupler that I had in bold 24pt (LARGE) font. Then would call to say part didnt fit. Is your car a 74 or later, I'd ask was it ever changed to an earlier 3" coupler, did you measure the length of the part like the description says, is it a factory part cause the aftermarket ones (there are 2, Dorman and an east coast manufacturer - may be the same). The aftermarket one is made with the roll pin hole 1/16" farther down from the cap. Means nothing as far as the function but the HEAVY wire clamp can not be forced 1/16" longer to fit an incorrectly made part. Threw those in the trash. I'd rather smash my toe with a hammer then ever sell those again I'd like to help and steer customers in the right direction for the billion various wireform trim clips. I know Tom at RT Speciaties has a couple. RJ&L has a few. 68-70 Chargers used like 5 or 7 different sized wire clips for the top of door chrome. Think Vans Auto makes those. This might be an area where someone could start reproducing some of these clips. Takes a machine called a 4 slide. I thought about getting one early on. Know any other hidden suppliers of these clips. Shocked that people dont understand why I don't SHIP MY PANTS WITH EXCITEMENT when they say "I can send you one if you can make me 5". I'd be homeless asnd out of business in a week

I have a feeling a lot of those 25% customers didn't have the skills to make simple adjustments to make the clips work. AND/OR had trim and/or body issues they didn't have the experience or skill to recognize.
So many people are spoiled.
As a long time hobbyist myself, it's frustrating that people like this can cancel a part.
On the other hand, 71TA is this the first time you reproduced wire trim clips? A-body guys tend to be more entry level hobbyist and more likely to have this type of reaction to a part. Also I'm thinking this type of part is less forgiving and takes a higher skill level to install.

What's the old saying? You can satisfy some-of-the-people all the time, or all-of-the-people some of the the time::::: BUT BUT BUT ???? remember these tidbits............ 1. : there is no such thing as a 5 hour job....... 2.: there are no such things as "bolt on parts"......... 3. : the faster you work, the more times you will get to re-do the task at hand............

I want my fair share

Can't help with your original question but it is the internet mentality that drives this everything perfect mentality. When we bought new trim back in the day the fasteners varied. The problem is a lot of people think the vendors are out to 'get" them, 99% are not. Add in the ebay customer is always right issue, and expensive shipping and returns and you will end up with nobody making parts. On my last restoration these were thousands of dollars of items that were not quite right, I either modified or found original, but was happy to at least have something to work with in all cases, only returned 1 item. I have changed how I think now and know some things will not be perfect, and move on, it is part of a restoration. The vendors have to deal with the bad pr, and wasted time, so it is best not to sell it.
