Wow!. the soundtrack alone is worth checking out, B-3's rock, even if you "Got No Time" by Guess Who.
The cars are awesome. I guess I'm getting old, I wouldn't trade all the funny cars today for just one of those old real cars shaped floppers. Guess I know now where my addiction to AR Torque Thrust's came from,
Thanks for sharing.

It was indeed magical, largely because it was new, dramatic - sometimes theatrical - and seemed to get more so pretty much monthly. Not to be underestimated is that it seemed pretty much anybody could scrape together enough resources to participate. I remember the trickle-down was pretty good - less technical, but fairly wide. When the big sponsorship money came in and race results therefore became critical, the Everyman aspect began to disappear. Money, inflation, progress, and TV have exacted their tolls, but I'm still a fan - the basic premise being so endearingly emblematic of humans pushing forward, come what may.

In 1966 i was driving a beat up 53 ford with a whopping 100 hp. An older friend let me drive his brand new 67 Olds 442 4 speed! What a trrip that was! For a small town of 1700 in North Dakota, there was a real collection of fast 60s early 70s muscle. A specially ordered 375 hp 67 Camro, a Shelby GT350, a couple of GTXs, my 383 4 speed 68 coronet, Charger RT, a 57 chev 2door sporting a z11 427, 67 Z28. Good times!

I heard enough to thought what I could have sworn was any number of local cruise nights...I don't live in the past for sure. I was not old enough to be a car guy then, I know nothing of it. I get it's where this started but don't wish to relive it. I only got into cars because I moved out at 16 and didn't have money to have anything fixed, so I had to figure it out. So flame away and hold on tight to those purple cams Al, for those who lived it, it was great! And you built on what was learned in those years , as seen in your projects and performance , taking it to another level. So to some degree you are kinda stuck with a piece of it๐

Ah, the key word isn't 'old', it's more like experienced. Growing up in the'60s was a great time, even though I didn't have a real car until late '67 when I started my so-called carrier job in the machinetool trade. Those days were certainly a special time but living in the SF Bay Area was also a confusing time. My first trip to a dragstrip was in 1969 at Vacavalley Dragstrip, where I witnessed Harry Holton (LO23 SS/BA Dart) match race Ed Terry's '69 SOHC 427+ Mustang...pretty cool and very memorable! Less than 2 years later I had my first '67 383 S B'cuda running in SS/H and SS/HA, which is where my Chrysler vehicle addiction started. It's the memories that make drag racing and the comaraderie special, along with those special folks at the time: Garlits, Sox, McCandless, Racer Brown, Harvey Crane, Keith Black, etc etc. The life legends are made from.

Like I said it had to start somewhere. But unfortunately many never left that era. At best they stopped progressing in the 80's, which is when I started and have never l started and have never looked back... Come on Woody OLD is ok. Afterall there is only one alternative to being old. Embrace it and enjoy life! Alo has changed since this video, most for the worse but some for the better. Hell I own my 64 because thats when I was born. So I myself am getting old too

My memories are just that, memories, and I try not to live in the past. My new car will be fun while using the old car only, without the old-school technology. Time DOES move on and waits for nobody!
