A friend of mine just bought a 1977 360 motorhome motor. It has 44 thousand miles on it very clean inside of the motor and the antifreeze was like new.Like any other motorhome motor it sat for long time in between use.
Questions for you guys.
The motor has a 2 barrel carb.
Will this motor have a RV cam in it?
Anyone or anyway of finding out what lift cam it is?
Anyone use the exhaust manifolds. They are center dump.
What intake would you put back on this motor?
We are trying to do this on the cheap. The motor will go into a Duster.

If the MODS did their job I would not be hitting the notify MOD button. LOL

There is no such thing as an "RV" cam. It doesnt really mean anything. To get an idea of the cam, pull it out and measure it. But guaranteed its small. Probably a .37/.41". The center dump manifold wont clear on the drivers side on a Duster. Put a 4 barrel on it. A stock cast iron manifold would be good with a nice running Thermoquad.

it wont have an rv cam in it unless someone put it in there.
it will have a 360 2 bbl cam in it. there is a yard close to me where there are at least 6 early to mid 70`s motorhomes with 360`s. in fact i`m pulling one tomorrow out of a 73.

Thanks guys . I always thought that a truck or RV motor had a differant cam.No problem with all the cams out there it will be easy to choose one.It should have J heads with small valves and the motor may have 9 to 1 compression. What is a good cast iron easy to get exhaust manifolds.

ALong the same lines. I pulled an engine out of a low mileage crew cab to put in my 65 Plymouth. The Plymouth has a tired Poly 318.

What oil pan would work for this? I will need need a different pan and pick up, I'm sure.

Somebody may have to verify this, but isnt the LA pan interchangable with the Poly engines? If so, you can use a 273, 318, or 340 car pan.

First ...I am not that familiar with the A engine in the van/truck/rv application but I do know that the B engine in those applications DOES have a much smaller cam than in a car.

I would think the same holds true for the 318/360.

What is their going rate on these motors? .. you are sure they are all 360's ? .. what are they asking for these? .. any quantity pricing?

Magnum truck manifolds of some years work on the A body.

J heads on a truck? I am thinking they would be the 576 heads.
