Sorry, here is the internet picture. This is for the ‘65 Belvedere, I’m putting disc brakes on it and just replacing bushing while I’m there. The lower control arm bushing were both wore where the pin was into the shell. I am using the stock pins. I will take some pictures in the shop this morning. With the overlay around the top of the shell just not sure of the sequence and what to push on. I can see where I could support the bottom of the inside bushing while I press the pin on but it still seems I have to put pressure on the material on top unless I press on the pin.

You may have to, probably will have to, cut the outer steel case out of the control arm to drive them out to install the new one. I ended up ordering OEM ones as the HP like your new ones I had several years back wouldn't press in tight enough to not spin in the lower control arm either way I tried to install them Try yours like they are first and go from there Please let us know how it goes

These have the shells so I have already removed the old shells. They seem to be a tight fit. The control arm measures 1.45, the old bushing is about 1.465, the Proforged is about 1.480 at the bottom and about 1.485 at the top.

Have tried freezing them and then measuring to see if that might assist insertion?

I already have the old bushings off the pins, did it just like you described. So lube the shell, press in just lying something flat over the top of the bushing, then press the pin in? If so, do I need to support the bottom of the inner bushing while pressing in the pin?
Doug, I am actually following your setup you posted over on b bodies only. I am using the poly LCA and strut rod bushings then using the offset bushings in just forward mount on the upper control arm.

Good job on doing it yourself. I like synthetic disc brake grease for lubricating bushings of all sorts. It won't attack plastic or rubber and persists for a long time. Make sure you don't torque down the fasteners until you suspension is at the ride height you are going to have. Always re-check torque on suspension components after a few miles of use.

Then support the bottom of the bushing (correct sized socket works well) while pressing the stud in. I've had some bushings that didn't fit real snug on the shaft. It has never seemed to be an issue. Just wanted to update for the next person. The proforged bushing have about .030 of interference fit so they are difficult to press in. They actually roll up material as you press them in. The pins installed without too much resistance. Anyway, they are done and back on the car.

No, they went all the way in, I just pulled them out of the press to remove the material that was loading up so they would seat all the way in. Great idea on the sanding, in hind sight I wish I would have captured it with a bolt and nut and stuck it in my drill press and sanded down the sides.
