They’ve been out quite awhile and I have no hate for them. Starter will never go bad…..

Recently I was in the market and started investigating the e-torque. many have had issues at under 50k miles, starts making noise. replacement is $1400 for the part alone and if you do mit yourself you still need a dealer to upload or flash the computer. It only improves efficiency less than 10% and the start stop feature for me is a serious negative.

there is no way I would own one, adds future repair costs exponentially and complexity to the vehicles wiring by adding a second battery 48volt under the rear seat. This was a band-aid to help offset the carbon credits they had to buy, 22 and 23 it phased in,24 every hemi 1500 is equipped with it

One of my friends works at the local CJDR dealer and told me about the trucks with e-torque.

When there's a problem, it's a pain to figure out and ultimately fix.

Are they as bad as eco-diesels? No.

Personally, I would stay away from them.

I have one as a work truck. 1500. Loaded with tools and supplies all the time. Its a relatively decent truck, but it is one of several in the fleet that had to have the "battery" replaced. I absolutely hate driving it around town/city, I turn off the auto start/stop. It was ticking away there for a while every time you started it, that went away. Overall, its been a decent truck. What are you going to do with it?
