So things have been changing.

Today they officially announced that Hearst Media has bought MotorTrend Group.

I was told they bought Hot Rod Magazine and MotorTrend. I had no idea they bought it all.

Looks like they want to own all of them. They own a lot.

All about profit. They also just entered the AI field.

Beta testing of the new ad-targeting tool resulted in a double-digit increase in click through rate at scale compared to third-party cookie-based audience targeting tools.

my subscription to hot rod was supposed to be for a ton of years after all the other magazines were dumped, and their subscriptions were folded into my hot rod subscription.
upon receiving my newest hot rod, "winter 2025", it seems that is the end of my subscription according to the address label. i haven't received a renewal form yet, and even if i did, i don't know if i would renew.
kind of like when i renewed my subscription to mopar action. i got a gift subscription for my good buddy, member crowbait, at the same time.
then the publishing company for that magazine sold to another outfit, and i lost both subscriptions and my money ! those rotten ba$tards didn't even offer another magazine for the money they GLADLY took from me ! flame
if this new sale does any magazines i may be interested in, i'll probably think long and hard about giving them my money.
as i'm old, i don't surf streaming stuff. i like to hold something to read in my old, crusty hands..............

Hearst also owns Motor Data, from which a large portion of the aftermarket parts industry purchases information at a rather high price
for application mapping and other purposes. They're wrapped way, way up into collision as well with labor times and so forth, and people pay
a ton for that information too.

Just another situation where some big ugly monster somewhere wants to control and own everything.

I'm so sick of this kind of crap.

I hope they don't mess around with it. What about Roadworthy Rescues?

Freiburger posted today that the TV shows are still canceled, but events like Power Tour would still likely go on.

A lot of the old Motortrend guys have their own gigs on YouTube. That and others. With all this content available I haven't missed Motortrend in years. Long live independent media.

They bought a falling knife, I hope they got it for cheap. There is value in the Hot Rod name for events, I guess, but is that even their plan?
