Hello everyone! It seems to me that distant or recent events (fill in the blank with your favorite…) support the idea that almost all of us have something to be thankful for this holiday season. With that in mind, I searched “Secret Santa” on this forum and only found results dating from several years ago. What I did find in my searching was that members were unhappy that this long-held tradition wasn’t happening anymore. Thinking about it, although it’s later in December, we still could get our gift packages in the mail before December 25th with a little effort and luck. With that in mind, I am volunteering to coordinate Moparts Secret Santa for 2024 for whomever would like to participate. Here are some ground rules and a plan of action: 1) Please PM me with your intent to participate by midnight on Friday, Dec. 13th. Yes, that is this Friday. 2) Please include the following in your PM… a. Favorite Mopar(s) or other interests b. Shirt and hat size c. Any other things to be aware of like allergies or health restrictions (no one needs to receive any brittle if they have a peanut allergy, etc.) d. Mailing address 3) On Saturday, Dec.14th I will randomly match you up with someone else on the Secret Santa list and then send you your “assignment” for spreading Christmas joy. I will also post the list of who is participating. 4) Please limit your gift purchases to $50.00. You can obviously spend more if you feel so inclined but you are not obligated to do so. Conversely, if your circumstances dictate spending less, know that it’s the spirit of the gift that counts. 5) Please post or PM to let everyone know that you’ve mailed out your package. I will keep tally and inform everyone of where we stand. 6) Once your gift arrives, please post up in the forum about what you received and thank your Secret Santa for their thoughtfulness. That being said, let us strive to set aside any differences of opinion we may have when we shop for our gifts and instead embrace the holiday spirit. Due to the lateness of everything, I think the best we can do is to get our gifts mailed before Dec. 25th. Yes, that will mean that some will arrive late; however, I think most people won’t mind opening up an extra present or two even if it’s later on in December. If you want to pay extra for shipping so that things actually arrive on time, thanks for the extra effort but that isn’t necessary. As I said at the beginning, with some luck and effort we can make this work. From my own experience during my military career we often had to scramble to do far more in a shorter time so I know that those participating will be able to rise to the occasion. Please let me know if I am forgetting something, either by posting or PM. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Ho ho ho!

Just thought I would post my own reason for being in the Christmas spirit this year. After many long years of wanting one and growing tired of working on cars and bikes in carports or tiny garages, I finally had a shop built this year. It's tall enough for a lift and will be getting shelves next spring. Once I'm done, I should be able to start work on my RR and not have to worry about leaving disassembled stuff laying around anymore...

ALRIGHT!! The short-fused Secret Santa 2024 extravaganza has come up with its first victim... err.. cheerful participant! Longtime Moparts member Nutso Suave has decided to play!! Right now, only he and I are mailing each other gifts for Xmas. C'mon all you humbugs. There's still time to join in the fun!

Final day to sign up if you want to be surprised for Christmas (or just after)... C'mon and let's help revive this Moparts tradition! Even though I only participated in Secret Santa a few times on this board, I was always surprised by other members' generosity and spirit. Here's a clock I received one year that still has a place of honor on my garage wall. I like '71-'72 B-bodies, so whoever sent it custom tailored the picture inserts at the 6, 9, 12, and 3pm hour positions for me. Very cool and thanks again for doing that for an otherwise unknown Moparts member who was participating for the very first time back then! One year I also remember receiving the E.O.W. penguin statute in the mail. With more time in the future, we could also bring the early opening weenie and other traditions back to the site with an earlier start for the sign up period. Before I forget, if anyone tried to post a reply to this thread in the last couple of days you'll see that it wasn't working. The mods had stickied and pinned it for max visibility, which unfortunately prevented replying in the thread. That's fixed now, so add something if you'd like.

For all you Moparts die-hards, Per what I outlined in the first post of this thread, the Secret Santa list is now closed. Since it's a pretty short list; however, please feel free to PM me to join in the fun, and I will do my best to add you to the gift exchange. In the meantime, enjoy the spiked eggnog!

Just got an update and all participants have gotten their Secret Santa gifts shipped. Nice work guys, and please remember to post something once you've received your holiday surprises.

Happy New Year to everyone!
Since I see we’ve had a lot of views on this thread, here are some updates:
Because of the very late start, we only had three participants this year. One of them (Nutso Suave) is currently at sea for his job. He told me he will post pics of the Xmas loot he received when he gets back in few more weeks.
We should be getting updates from another participant shortly. Because I volunteered to coordinate things and didn’t want to look like I was fishing for presents, I didn’t add myself this year but that’s okay because I already received my gift, which was that shop I posted about.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas, even if you didn’t participate. Based upon receiving almost one thousand views on this thread, I think participation will potentially be higher next year especially with an earlier start. If no one volunteers again, I don’t mind doing this again because it wasn’t too much of a challenge getting it going.

I reckon I'd jump on board next year if there was enough advance notice. I've done it before and it was pretty fun.
