In a 4-light system do the low beams go off when the hi beams are on ??

not on any I have owned.
the low beams have high beams in them as well, and all 4 are on when on high beams.

Yup, all 4 are lit on "high" - high beams will have 2 terminals, low beams 3.

Are you asking if the low beam filaments are still lit when you have the high beams on? If so, no.

to further clarify.
there are 2 filaments inside a low beam bulb. a low beam filament and a high beam filament. this is why they have 3 electrical tabs on them. high beams only have 1 filament inside the bulb and 2 electrical tabs on the back of the bulb.

The power from floor selector switch is only routed from the light green wire coming from headlights switch to one of the circuits… violet which is low beam and red which is high beams. Once you select High beams energizing red wire, there is no power on violet circuit.

Two filaments in a low beam headlight. One for low, other for high. Both are not on at the same time. They have different reflective points in the housing which changes light output area.

The reason there are only 3 wires to the low beam light instead of 4 wires is because both the high beam and the low beam elements in the low beam light both use a common ground.
The high beam light only has the high beam circuit power and a ground.

The dimmer switch determines if the high beam circuit or the low beam circuit has power to it.

All of the lighting in the front of the car share the same ground circuit.

One thing I will mention though ...

I've just finished making a complete 4-light harness to incorporate relays. I know CRACKEDBACK makes and sells these but I like to build my own stuff - I can make things to fit the way I want them. According to other posts he makes a good product. So having finished mine I can tell you that his are worth every dime he sells them for - MORE in my opinion. By the time you buy all the wire, terminals, heat shrink, wire cover, relays, etc and add a few hours labor, his units are a bargain!

Nobody has turned this post into a dick size debate but you. It is known as a learning process. My point was that all four bulbs are on in high beam. Which is the way I read your post and I wasn't the only one.

Of course common ground wire and also one of each filament legs to a common prong.

Time is money type deal.

I understand some guys want to modify the mopar OE wiring system in order to increase the headlight brightness but..
My solution was to go to LEDs which only draw about 25% of the current required for the OE incadescents, and since
LEDs depend more on current than voltage they have greater brightness. Also LEDs tend to have a wider dispersion output
so one can actually run (4) low beams without any issues. For my 70 RR, I fabricated a Y harness using Amazon ceramic connectors
and have (4) low or (4) high beams by wiring both dual filament LED headlights in parallel. An EZ solution without having to add relays and revise the
mopar factory wiring...
