I understand what you all are saying when cars are on trailer, but I suppose many have their stuff stored somewhere else and trailer home to sell, or even keep it on trailer.

Rental trailers would be awful expensive storage spots. Can't believe the flipper couldn't hold off for pics until the car was unloaded.

I also wrote that maybe he stored it somewhere else and towed it to his house to sell. MAYBE. I have had a car on a trailer for sale and I've never flipped a car in my life. Just saying, possibility.

I sure did, but it was my own trailer, flipped it in a couple of weeks from Las Vegas to Chicago and it never left my trailer...LOL

Based on the background in the CL pics, it would appear that the area doesn't lend itself to unloading a car and letting it sit around (maybe an HOA thing?). I believe the owner bought it cheap and is hoping for a quick flip - but at some point that trailer gets costly. Without talking to the owner, we're just speculating. Somebody around there needs to give him a call.

As for "flipping", it's not always a black & white deal, is it ?
If all 3 parties are happy with the prices they got and paid, the only real issue is how that affects the marketplace.
I can see both sides of that issue, but it's economics in the final analysis, isn't it ?
I bought & sold a lot of cars 30-40 years ago - buy 'em, fix 'em up to varying degrees, get the hots for something else, rinse & repeat.
Never had an angry buyer - in fact, many became friends and a few became repeat customers.
That said, that's apparently not as easy to do now, maybe because everyone's seen the get-rich-quick TV shows or got too greedy.
I think one's viewpoint depends a lot on where they are in the transaction, and their money situation.

And it looks horrible btw. I know it's a West coast car, but every one I come across lately...
has a melted dash pad...not only melted, but cracked badly. Doesn't anybody use dash covers...
out west, on these vehicles?

You haven't been around many desert area cars. That is normal for a car that has been outside in 100+ temps for long periods

The joke with my friends for many years was get interior parts from the midwest/east coast and solid sheet metal cars from out west

I HAVE been around those cars. I have personally bought two Darts: a 1969 slant six Q5 turquoise/white interior two door, out of Phoenix Arizona...the paint on this Dart was faded/oxidized, but was salvageable.
And a 1968 Dart Custom, two door Bronze/black interior with a 318... came out of Tuscon Arizona. Both were original Arizona cars. I brought both back to the Midwest, in the mid-late 90's. NEITHER dash pads in those cars were melted or cracked at all. Interior's ( seats/door cards) were worn, both cars carpets were faded out obviously, but decent driver quality.

I've parted more than 50 of these desert cars and 50+% had dashes that look exactly or worse than that one.

If the car was lucky enough to be in a shaded area, that helps. The sun beating on them and a south facing cars usually get the beef jerky dash pad option.

even though my junkyard was in pennciltucky, the location of it had the sun on it from the time it came up until the time it went down.
if we left the windows up in the vehicles, the interior heat plus the direct sunlight would cook and destroy dash pads.
maybe not as bad as the desert south west, but it sure did a number on them.
if we had someone looking for a particular dash pad, we got his number, and if a very good one somehow came in, we would be on the phone.
saved a lot of pads over the years by doing that.
