I need one for #3 cylinder bored .060 over, any problems in doing this? 66 block. I’ve heard the walls are thicker on Hemi blocks, true? Has a small hairline crack on side of cylinder looking at the pin. I pressure tested it to 30psi and a tiny bubble weeped out, hoping a sleeve will fix it. No idea the history on this block.

Shouldn't be a problem. I sleeved one like that. Well, much worse, it froze and busted. But everything turned out fine. I don't know if the walls are any thicker. Should be an easy job.

The motor I run now is sleeved. +.060, I've run it for over ten years. The fastest motor I ever had in the car had 8 sleeves. No issue.

My mega block is sleeved. Had a 3" crack when it kicked a rod. Absolutly no problems over 3 years close to 300 passes.

The results you will get depends on how good the machine shop is on installing it and what type and material the sleeve is twocents
if they a standard rebuilders sleeve and bore the block ,004 or smaller than the outside diameter of the sleeve and then drive it in with a BFH it will more than likely need boring or some honing to get it useable.
If they use a ductile iron sleeve and bore the block.003 or smaller than the O.D. of the sleeve and then chill the sleeve in a freezer so it shrinks and almost falls into the block and heat up the 3 cylinder in the block, the sleeve cylinder and both of the ones next to it will take less machine work to make it work well up scope twocents
Good luck either way luck

iagree No problem at all. People always get scared of sleeves, but I'd run one in a heartbeat.

If done right it will be the best cylinder in the block.

I had one we saved, and it had all 8 sleeved...Ran really good in my car at 484 cubes at +.060, and for many years. Was a little beast...Till I torched a head gasket and broke a main cap. Put new Pro-Gram Billet caps in, line bored and honed it, and sold it.

Most R3s I know of have sleeves. It's almost a rite of passage for them🤣. I'd sleeve every iron block cylinder if I could afford it

If I was you and don't know if the shop you want to sleeve cylinder #3 knows how to do that so it doesn't make cylinders #1 and #5 go out of round I would have them sleeve all four cylinders on the drivers side before starting the final machine work of boring ad honing them twocents
If you know and trust that they can install the # 3 sleeve without affecting the two adjacent cylinders roundness when they are done go forward with them scope work up

Good luck, either way up luck

Boring and honing was already done, that’s when crack was found (very tiny) also 5 and 7 have sleeves now. I’ll ask him to do a .00 to .001 fit using the hot block cold sleeve approach, with green loctite, should just drop in. He does the step at bottom and head will hold it in at top. This is only a show car.
