68 Dart convertible. These trim clips go around the back of the body to hold on the stainless trim. Most of the clips fit nice but a few of them do not. There are a few places where the metal is double thick and the clip doesn't want to sit down all the way. Also, the extra thickness makes the clip stick out on the inside at the bottom. I'm not certain, but wouldn't the convertible top rub on the sharp bottom edge of the clip if it sticks out and doesn't sit flush with the body? I was thinking of taking a belt sander to the inside piece of metal to knock down the lip and thickness a bit. Good idea or not? These are the original trim clips and no body work/ metal replacement was done in this area so it must have done the same thing from the factory. Thanks

Picture I found when I took it apart. The clip on the right looks like it sticks out and isn't flush.

Well, I went ahead and trimmed up the inside lip where the clips attach. Then I hit those spots with touchup paint. The clips fit much better. I'm not sure if they would have interfered with the convertible top but I feel better about it now. All the trim around the back is on now. That was kind of nerve wracking. Now to install the window fuzzies and trim on the top of the door. I noticed the stainless on interior side window fuzzies are all scratch up right out of the package. I'm going to have to polish those before I can install them.
