Hey Folks,

I recently did a top end rebuild on my 75 318 which included, Summit Racing SUM-K50052 cam and lifters, cloyes roller timing chain, rebuilt 302 casing heads with comp springs and retainers, old school Torker 340 intake and holley 650dp. Currently is running single wire HEI dizzy....
Being a truck motor, I dont expect this to be a hot rod but a good driver with some decent mid range torque numbers for my 75 D100 with 3.55 gears. There were a number of different people assisting with this build on several different occasions (usually without my supervision) so I have convers of the workmanship.
I personally installed the cam and heads (dot to dot with 1 and 6 at TDC). I dropped the OEM dizzy with the rotor pointing at #6. From this point I paid helpers to finish the project due to my time restraints. The work included them pulling my OEM distributor for the HEI (they said no spark) which i find odd... but anyway. The engine runs but like complete garbage.... I cant get timing on it because it appears the mark is no place to be found. The engine is very sluggish, yet Pings like no tomorrow under any minor load. Another odd observation is there is ZERO vacuum at idle but does increase with RPM.... The engine idles, but kinds misses a bit.... rpms slowly (not responsive) and clearly is not making any power. All 8 header tubes are hot so its running on 8, my guess is either cam/ignition timing is way off.... Any recommendations on how to diagnose more accurately without disassembly?

Thank you in advance.

Why did you do that?

Should have had the rotor pointing to number 1.

Recheck and reset the distributor in accordance with the FSM procedure.
