Any recommendations for a cheap sonic tester that has a head that can measure cylinder wall thickness? Or one where a head can be modified to do it? It was always difficult to justify buying one of the high end ones when I don't machine blocks for a living. Anything out there nowadays?

Amazon: REED Instruments TM-8811 Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge $395

I hand filed the head to work on cylinder bores. Been working great so far and is within 0.006" of cast iron sections measured with verniers.
