what is the factory applied orange on the modern hemi. its not race hemi orange it looks more like a dull pumpkin orange, anyone know??

Street Hemi orange is not very bright, or particularly glossy, so maybe they are just using that same old color again?

Go to the dealer parts counter and ask if they show the paint for it?

I was at Golling Roseville parts department, and they are selling the Street race Hemi orange that is very glossy. I might just do that but what I have seen is almost a very dull pumpkin color at least to me.

That paint has some ok shine to it on smooth parts, but on rougher surfaces like cast iron its less. Then paints might loose a small percentage of their shine from heat cycles during use as well.

I was just wondering if you could get a paint can number for the Helllcat engine paint from the parts guy, and see if it's the same part number as the old stuff.

I would try VHT SP120 for a pumpkin orange that has a touch of brown in it.

It's a cool color and "looks like it belongs" for alot of apps.

It does not have the visual pop of PPG 3116/AMC Mandarin Orange/MP crate engine orange that I like to use on special stuff, which has noticeably more red in it than brown.

Usually "dull" refers more to gloss rather than hue, but I think I know what you mean.

Race Heni orange and street hemi orange are two different colors, I think the max wedge motors used the race hemi orange before the race hemi motors came out

i am going to lean in the direction to the street hemi orange more glossy. i did some tests and looked at a bunch of different motors.

EV2 Hemi Orange single stage urethane paint on this engine.

out of a can or mixed from the auto paint store?

From the auto paint store, urethane paint (gets mixed with catalyst and reducer) sprayed from a paint gun.
It's not as cheap as rattle can, but holds up much better IMO.

There are some paint stores that can mix some paints and put it in a spray can, but probably won't be catalyzed paint. (No Gloss Hardener in the paint).

I forgot to say that when I have them mix the paint I tell them to leave out the gold metallic that’s normally in EV2 Hemi Orange.

i have at least i think they are still open by me Automotive pint supply. plus i know a few painters that can hook me up if needed.

i will make sure to not get the flake put in.
