linky

I wonder if the guy in the driver seat brought a change of clothes.

Hope he bought the extended warranty.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

This one is a few years old and pretty famous but even wilder.

Not sure if these are pulling trucks or purpose-built dyno mules, but they are definitely running on the ragged edge.

(The carnage happens about 4 minutes in for those with short attention spans)

The OP was at Diesels in the Mountains car show and sand drag event in Utah a couple of weeks ago. The truck was putting out close to 3000 hp when it blew up.

This is the video of the second one aftermath.

Not super clear but it looks like the block split lengthwise under the head bolt thread bosses.

I've seen Super Stock pulling tractors split them lengthwise above the crank. Crankcase stays in the chassis with the rods and pistons flapping in the breeze and the head with the cylinders still attached is elswhere/under the tractor.

Earth shattering kaboom!

"...elsewhere." From what I've seen on YouTube, 'elsewhere' seems to be about two counties over. Pretty sure some a them guys ain't gonna be happy until they've put half a cylinder head into low-earth orbit.

When I was in high school (50 years ago) the local Allis dealer had a Super Stock D-21 they were pulling. They said they were running 200 pounds of boost back then.
