Was just informed of this myself I knew the business has been for sale,, with no takers. But believe a family member has taken it over and running it al now. Don't know the details of that and its not my business to ask. But looks like Vans stepped up and has acquired the rights and all that goes with it of the repop parts side https://www.tonysparts.com/reproductions-partsI know Tony has been wanting to retire / step away. And and enjoy the quieter side of life , and I surely wish him the best life possible, Hopefully I will run into him again on some of the west coast shows,,, So, Tony if you're reading this, Look me up at Spring Fling next year, I'll buy you a cold one , be it Ice cream , or beer, your choice!

I was out in Oceanside, CA a couple months ago where Tony moved and he picked me up and took me to breakfast, let me just say his new house in spectacular! He can explain everything better than I can of course since he told me what he did with the business. Glad to see Van's taking over, I worked with them repopping some A-Body and Sweptline truck parts, great guys!

I was out in Oceanside, CA a couple months ago where Tony moved and he picked me up and took me to breakfast, let me just say his new house in spectacular! REALLY nice place (so much info online now a days). I had taken the family on like 5 trips to California but unless I could live in LaJolla or a condo right on the coast I'd pass. For work I had spent MUCH time programming machines and robots at Tesla in Fremont. Home cost 4X what midwest homes cost but pay is like 30-50% higher (as an engineer). No one would level with me how locals afford the mortgage. I'm sure Tony purchased cash. His taxes are brutal though Congrats on him being able to cash in and lay back. I'll be at it till I drop. Could be worse though - I've experienced it.

Probably a health "event" will force a slowdown eventually. Then I can have my ashes sprinkled near a condo in Lajolla, California But thanks! Jim, my 2cents, But please dont wait until health forces you. I had planned to work until full retirement age of 66-1/2 , which happens to be another 18 months. I threw in the towel Dec 2023, I just turned 65 last month Some events in my life with friends told me , dont wait. Go now while I can enjoy life. Im so happy I did. Although I do have days where Im a little bored. But I jump on some of the various car forms for a bit then will head to the garage and tinker or I have house remodeling projects / ideas bouncing around And I just took on a job to restore a locals F100 pickup his dad bought new . So that will keep me busy for several months

We looked at Escondido which is east of the ocean. There was still land there that was available to build but I’m sure the situation now is totally different.

Interesting move to Oceanside from Maryland.
He was close with Steve Juliano who had a place in San Clemente, CA just one town to the north north. Wonder if something caught his eye on a visit. Thought he was is Delaware?

I remember when he lived in Orange County N.Y. and raced his GTX at my home track Island Dragway .. an acquaintance of mine still has his old GTX but I haven't seen him or the car in quite awhile.

But looks like Vans stepped up and has acquired the rights and all that goes with it of the repop parts side Bill, better to ask me if you have any questions, but youre not far off at all though. My brother in law Jeff, who has been with me for well over 25 years and knows the business and parts very well has taken over the day to day business of the original used and NOS parts. He was also taking care of filling all of the reproduction parts sales for me too. As inventory was decreasing on some of the reproduction parts and because I was stepping back and semi retiring and knew that I wasnt going to make another run of those parts, I became more motivated to sell of those parts that were low on inventory and eventually the whole reproduction parts inventory to keep those parts still available to the hobby. I would have felt terrible because of all of the time and development spent to make those parts as accurate and correct as i could, to just go away with nobody else to continue making them as it would have left a void in the hobby for those parts. Tom and Duane at Vans have been excellent to deal with and will continue manufacturing the Tonys Parts in addition to the parts that they already offer. I know Tony has been wanting to retire / step away. Absolutely, i know you get it! I was at the fall fling yesterday, look forward to seeing you at the spring fling 2025!

Interesting move to Oceanside from Maryland. He was close with Steve Juliano who had a place in San Clemente, CA just one town to the north north. Wonder if something caught his eye on a visit. Delaware actually, but its common that people confuse the 2, it happens all of the time, lol. We still have our house in Delaware and split time between the 2 houses. I had visited Steve a number of times, (he was in San Clemente the next town up from Oceanside, but Camp Pendleton approx 16 mile in between) but it was always in the spring or fall so i never appreciated the climate as it didnt differ much from where i was. After Steve passed away in sept 2018, in January 2019 his daughter, as per Steve's wishes, asked me to meet her at his collection in regards to future plans for for his collection. it was a cold winter in Delaware that January. but in San Clemente temps were in low 60s. on my last day there i checked out of the hotel about 11am but my flight didnt leave San Diego until 10pm. so i figured id take the scenic route along the coast to SD. as i was driving along the cost, i saw surfers, beautiful palm trees, a dog beach (Cindy and I are dog lovers) and a few old cars out and about. All the above is when it hit me why Steve loved it out there so much. so after some investigation i found that the earthquakes, fires and other natural disasters that effects other parts of California dont hit that area, so Cindy and I started vacationing there once a year to see if we liked the area, and last year we bought a beautiful home less then a mile from the coast with full ocean view and a good size garage. we had looked at some coastal houses but quickly became aware of the unbelievable constant maintenance needed due to the salt water and quickly decided against it.

I enjoy reading about others retirement. I'll literally have to keep working till the end so I don't have to eat dog food. I told a buddy of mine I have to work until noon the day of my funeral. He said that's nothing, I have to drive myself to the cemetery. Kevin
