my question is is there any horsepower gain going from a 3x intake with 2 inch spacer to a tunnel Ram. Have to Run a single 4 barrel carb. If so how much gain

A tunnel ram with only one carburetor? Seen an Engine Masters video where the single carb on a vintage tunnel ram was shown to be a less than a great idea. Difficult to get the AF ratios on all 8 cylinders to be on the same page was the issue they had with it from memory

In a word...NO. There are improvements in having the 3x professionally ported but, it works really well overall. You might gain something having a sheetmetal intake done being it's pretty large CID but, you can make over 1100 with a 3x.

Sean, since i have a Wilson ported 3x, that raises the question of any advantage going to an Indy tunnelram and two terminaters versus my single terminater/ported 3x?

We've ran the basically the same mph and only 0.06 quicker in et (best for best) going from a cleaned up 3X to a cleaned up T/R. I think it's over carbed anyway being a mildish 580 with 2 x1150 dominators on it but they look way cool grin

FWIW at best comparing a really good single 4 to a good 2x4 tunnel ram you are looking at 30ish HP. If you have a marginal single 4 intake then the gains will be larger. As for going to a single TR if it is done properly with the correct plenum I would think 10-15hp over a good cast single 4. Of course there are other variables and Im talking all out no expense spared stuff. Seen it MANY times on the dyno with SS and Comp stuff

Based on the tunnel ram I'm using (I'd guess whatever cast indy is the same) I'd say you'll make more power with the 3x.

iagree
I saw 30 HP gain going from a single list # 9375 1050 CFM Dominator on a 440-3 intake to two #9375 Dominators on a Indy twin dominator tunnel ram 45 minutes later with both carbs jetted for max EGT readings on race gas shruggy
I was hoping and expecting more but I got what it gave me frown shruggy
