Might be a simple yes or no deal here, but Ive got a VERY decent 2863216 18.5" fan assembly that came off of a fairly low miles 383 in a 68 C body i was told. So Its got 3 blades with a very slight bend in the corner, like when a guy pulled it out ?carelessly. Not a kink, or a wrinkle, jest a slight bend. I dont trust much for OER reman stuff as Im pretty sure its all offshore junk. The clutch feels excellent, and the blade just needs slight fixing, and painted.
Would you trust an slightly tweaked OE fan blade over a Offshore reman fan blade and clutch assy?
My gut is telling me to just clean it and run it, but I also just bought a Glen Ray radiator, and I would literally start to cry if I stuffed a 18.5" fan into a work of art radiator! LOL

i'm pretty gun shy about straightening fan blades, although i have done so many times in the distant past. the reason being, i saw a couple come apart after being straightened, although none were ones i had straightened, and i don't know the back story on the ones that were straightened, then came apart. they do tend to cause quite a bit of damage when exiting the fan hub, and i am glad in the cases i have seen the aftermath caused, no one was in their path ! now with that said, i would need to examine the fan very closely before i could offer an opinion either way. afterward, it would still be my opinion, right or wrong. others may, or may not agree with me, considering their experiences. i wished i could be of more help, but it would cause one to cry if something happened to a new glen-ray radiator, regardless of the cause.........

If it's just tweaked on ends. Straighten them. I had a fan that came with a old MP Viscous fan kits. The dumb Chinese radiator inlet neck interfered with the fan (location later corrected). So we put a 3/4" tap on each blade and cut the blades with a sawzal (carefully). It's been that way for 10K miles, same waterpump, and I cruise at 3500-4000 rpm. It's a low drag fan now for sure. Not overheating issues.

Just to be clear here, im talking about the very leading tip of a blade being just ever so slightly rolled, if I wouldnt have cleaned it off with my hotsie I wouldnt have even seen it. Its literally 3 blades that have 3/16 to maybe 1/4" section slightly not straight. no loose rivets, no paint cracking, nothing even up in the frame work of the fan into any rivets or anything. I guess my biggest question here is that Is a slightly bent tip on a nice fan make it worse than a chinese knock off that is probably made with far inferior materials? Im thinking Ill be just fine running the fan with a nice restored fan clutch hub assy. thanks guys
