Good Day All

Finally got the 14X7 cop car rims painted for the wifes 71 SuperBee (EL5 Butterscotch).
The plan is to run Goodrich T/A radials with 235/60 on the rear and 215/60 on the front.
Does anyone see a problem with this set up?
Also, looking for opinions on what speedo pinion to run with this set-up (3:55/Torque Flight.
As always thanks to all who respond.

i ran 235/60s on the rear and 225/60s up front on my 71 Plymouth...they look small imo...24.5" diameter i believe on the rears

i have 225/70s all around now - look much better at 26.5"

both sets of tires were BFG Radial TA

here's a pic with the old tires to show what i mean - the wheelwells on the dodges may be a lil smaller, which would help

Other than the fact that it'll look like you are running around on donut sized spares it should work fine.

I agree, on a 71, I'd consider 275's to be the smallest I'd go. I run 245's on the back of my '67 plymouth. They look smallish to me even in those tiny wheelwells.

i do like some 15" wheels(mainly just to go wider), but the 14" wheel is very nice imo...i don't think that 225s look small - for me, it's the diameter that makes the difference. the 225/70s are basically stock appearing, but the 60 series 14" tires are just too small in diam. for my taste

car's dirty, but here's an idea on width and how much nicer they fill out the wheel wells

(note the black soot on the left side...this is on the way to the shop to pull the motor for rebuild)

Most owners go to a 15 inch wheel because of the availablity of tire sizes. I went from 14s to 15s for this reason as well. The 71 B-bodies have huge rear wheel wells and small tires get lost in there. For your wheel choice I'd find a speedo gear with 37 teeth.

I'm running a 15x7 rim all the way around on the car in my sig.

P235/R6015, 26.1" tire up front
P255/70R15 29.04" tire out back
I have 4:10 gear and IIRC I have a 39 tooth speedo gear.

IMHO 14"s are a bit too small, but it's your overall tire size that's a tad short.
Your rear tires will look like my fronts...

Your 235/60 = a 25.1" tire, with 3:55's you will want a 36-39 tooth speedo according to the chart in the archives...

I like the original look on mine (14 x 6). You can check out the car here. Kim

My first set of wheels on my '71 Charger were the 14" Magnum 500 rims with 235x60x14" tires front and rear. They looked good, and worked OK, except in hard cornering. With the stock suspension the car leaned really hard in corners, but once I upgraded the Torsen bars and added sway bars, the small tires did not like the slomon course. When I got through the course the sidewalls of the tires were scuffed up.
I then got 15"x7" rims with 255x60x15" tires which worked much better. I think with the right offset you might be able to get something like 15x8" rims with 275 width tires in the front, and I currenty run 15x10" rear rims with the MT street radial tires. I don't know the metric equivlent size, but I think 295's should fit?

the 215/60/15 is a pretty short tire

I'd put 235/60/15 front & 255/60/15 rear
or
245/60/15s all around (nice fit on 7" wheel & '71 "B")
