yesterday, friday the 13th, my buddy and i went to the canfeild ohio swap meet.
i had rented a golf cart for this event back in july. the golf cart we got was number 13.
we had a great time, the weather was perfect, about 80 degrees and a nice breeze.
found great deals, met many friends, and had a great time.
we got gas before we went home, [because it was 40 cents cheaper per gallon] and the gas pump was number 13...............
had a relaxing ride home, with no construction or other "fun" stuff to contend with.
all in all, a perfect day, and the two of us forgot all the world's troubles, and all the troubles life has thrown at us over all of our lives and 50+ years of our friendship.
who says friday the 13th is a "bad luck" day ? laugh2

A few years ago i when in to Home Depot on 9/11. I purchased something and the price was $9.11. I know it was pure coincidence but it was weird. I made sure i didn't walk under a ladder or see any black cats in front of me!

Friday the 13th is only bad luck if you're a Knight's Templar.

I got spit on by a dead alpaca on this past Friday the 13th.

This was icing on the cake of a very long and crazy day.

Absolutely. You can't just say "I got spit on by a dead alpaca..." and leave us hangin' like that. C'mon, man...we gotta know!

Looking for a way out of Middl...
On my days off I try to find something to do that isn't behind a desk and I have some friends with an alpaca farm. I was helping around the farm when I get the call the vet is coming to put an alpaca down. A sweet 23 year old girl but she had a bad tumor that was not treatable. These owners are amazing people and very caring for their animals this particular alpaca was delivered by the wife and it was her baby. To say it was special was an understatement.

I direct the vet to the alpaca in a barn and watched the vet do his job. I was told she would be taken care of by someone else and so I finish up a few chores and was about to head home when the husband intercepted me. He said "lets load her up," he was going "to take care of her". So we load her into the back of a polaris and I went home while he headed off towards the back of the farm and the woods.

I get home and I get a call from the wife. She said her husband came back and said that the alpaca was lying in a ditch and he was going to bed. It was her baby so she asked me to find her and to cover her up with tarps. She didn't like her just laying there for animals to find her.

Now by the time my son and I get out there it's dark and it's a 300+ acre farm with lots of ditches. We embarked on a mission with a flashlight and headlights on the gator. We looked for awhile and finally found her. She was actually on a neighbors farm and not in a good location so we made the judgement call to move her to a shady spot deep in the woods figuring the owner would prefer that to an upset neighbor. In the process of picking her up my son discovered she was drooling spit and got it all over his hand. Whew, at least it wasn't me. Knowing it was her baby we find a spot deep in the woods, under a shade tree, with purple flowers around. We laid out tarps and as we were unloading her her head swung around and sprayed spit all over me. Even dead she spit on the two guys who had been medicating and treating her for the last few weeks.

Talk about an alpaca way to go.

We couldn't dig a hole that big so we laid her out on tarps and covered her with tarps and some stones. Good deed done we went home.

Next morning the wife called and needed to know where the alpaca was. Nobody told us but her husband left her in that spot so the neighbor on the adjacent farm could bury her with his backhoe and we stole the body.

I know there is a joke in there somewhere but I can't figure it out.

Yeah, I guess that's where the ole saying comes from...."a good deed never goes unpunished."
I don't know if you can chuckle about it yet, but I did. Thanks for the follow-up. up

wow, what a story ! eek
i guess the "payback is a bit$h" saying comes into play here...............
thanks for the "now we know the rest of the story" GTX.
it really is hard to put down a beloved pet, even if it is a different type than most of us are accustomed to.............i have had to make that decision four times, and thus, we don't have "loved ones" since the last decision had to be made over 10 years or more, ago.
please send my sympathies to your wife. angel

now with that said, and the mention of "body snatchers" and a backhoe, i'm with Mike above.
there's gotta be a chuckle of some sort in there some place............ whistling biggrin
