I'm selling a 1972 Alfa Romeo GTV that's had a rotisserie restoration. I bought it as a running and driving project when I was stationed in Italy in 2015 and the restoration is finally done.

I did a lot of the work myself, but I have waaayyyy too much invested, so I'd like to cut my losses as much as possible. From what I can tell, BAT is my best bet, but I've always sold my cars on eBay, so I'd appreciate any tips that anyone can provide on selling on BAT.

I have signed up with BAT already; photos scheduled for tomorrow evening.

Thanks,

Scott

I haven't sold a car through BaT but have bought one:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-dodge-charger-22/

I'd suggest the following:

1. Plenty of high res pictures of every possible angle of the car, after the beauty pictures.

2. One video of the car starting up, with a walk around.

3. One video, from the passenger seat, of the car being driven.

4. a comprehensive write-up of the work done to the car.

Put yourself in the perspective of a potential buyer. What would you want to know about the car before bidding on it.

If I understand BaT correctly, they discuss the reserve price with you before the listing occurs.

Hopefully it works out for you.

I looked at BAT but the pricing scared me away. Depends on what you are selling and who your buyers are. I'm not looking for 100 point show car. And not paying $250 minimum for a turd to them either. In your case it may work. I would try some of the conventional places first other than ebay. Might try listing it on a Alfa Romeo forum. Autotrader or Hemmings

Be prepared to wait a LONG time for it to get listed. My buddy has been waiting 4 months already and they have told him nothing. Zippo. Its a giant 'buddy' system on BaT

Never, ever argue with an IDIOT. They will drag you to their level and then beat you with their years of experience

Nice GTV ! I really like those.

Italian cars are notorious for rust - expect questions on that.

Good luck with the sale.

From my experience, the people with big expendable money prefer Bring A trailer. Those types hate to lose and will keep bidding just to keep someone else from winning. The downside is their fees. I built a Hellcat swapped 71 Barracuda for my boss. He drove it a couple of times, I took it to the Moparty show in 22 and the boss sold it on BAT last October. It sold for $196,000 plus $5000 buyers fees. I won't use Ebay at all. It does take a little while to get one listed. They send someone to photograph the car and do a write up for the ad.

The purple 70 Challenger in the pic has a Helliphant and T56 trans. I heard last night he will be listing it on Bring A Trailer soon also.

I would be ready with a pre written post once the auction starts with details you think are important. The ads are seriously lacking, where as in eBay you control the content. I used to sell my cars on eBay and always did well. The ads I wrote for myself and others cut the bs calls and messages a lot. Simply think of what you as a buyer want to know, and write it ALL.

Guys that are actively engaged in the comments get shellacked. Be prepared to answer questions daily.

A drive video is crucial.

I want my fair share
