What shocks are you running?

I need to replace my shocks, worn out KYBs (on it when I bought it) and want a better set.

I was thinking Rancho or Bilstien .

Anyone using them. Mild off road use.

I have Rancho 5000-series shocks on my '01 Ram 1500 4X4, stock ride height and 33" tires on 17" "Off Road" rims.
I'd rate them as "OK." I put them on to replace the 15 year old originals, and while they ride better, I expected them to be less rigid riding than they are.
When I replace them (in the near future), I'll opt for something else. I don't think they're a bad shock for the money, but for a few extra dollars, there are others that get better recommendations (such as above).

Thanks for the feedback. I had Ranchos on my 1998 1500 and like you said they where just okay.

I've heard good things about the Bilsteins also. Hoping someone chimes in that's running them (or others).
This topic comes up from time-to-time, but the only thread I could dig up had no more traffic than this one. shruggy

Yep I searched as well before starting this thread. I am sure it is a personal preference thing, but some real world feedback would be nice.

I put rancho on my 12 1/2 ton and they're not what I was expecting/hoping for. Especially the backs. I don't know if this being my first ever rear coil spring equipped vehicle of any kind plays into that or not...
If I replaced them again I'm going back to the Gabriel ultras.
So far the rancho's replaced "shot" originals
I know I won't buy kyb anymore for anything again

Thanks for the feed back I used to KYB on my Baja"s and they were okay for a light vehicle. So far I cannot find Gabriel Ultras for my 79. Leaning more and more towards Bilstiens B6 4600.

My 2015 Power Wagon came factory with the Bilstein's . 91,000 miles and they have been replaced 3 times on all 4 corners due to leaks. I have the extended warranty so I only have a deductible. Not sure if they are worth the money.

Are they the same as a "replacement" or are slightly different(lesser quality) since they came with vehicle? I would have to ask are your roads as bad or worse than "off road" like where I am. The suspension gets more of a work out on the road than off. I have Rancho's and would say the same as "OK" but will be buying Bilsteins next time.

I did a Rancho steering damper (essentially a shock ) on my 2009 Cummins 4x4.

It didn't last long and started giving death wobble after just a couple of years of easy highway miles.

The Rough Countrys that replaced it are so much better.
