Looking for correct way to install a 360 a833 trans in a 84 D150. My son bought a D150 project for us. We had a 360 he picked up and a a833 23 spline trans. He bought a 11" fly wheel and luk clutch set up for it to install and mounted them. But when he tried to install the bell housing it didn't fit. I did read something regarding installing the bell house first then installing the rest of it from the bottom up but doubt it will fit. Rock auto told it would fit Not. Nit sure if it's the wrong set upsince it's a 11" fly wheel. He can't return the parts to rock auto. And not sure the throw out set will work. Hopefully one of you have been there done that before. Not new to mopars just new to the truck side. Thanks

If the bell is from a truck (11" is likely a truck bell), then the bolt pattern on the bell for the trans is for the 435 (?) granny low gear transmission. The 11" clutch disc for the truck clutch disc has the wrong spline count on the clutch disc to use on the 833 trans. To use that bell and clutch, you will need that granny low gear HD truck trans.

To use the 833 in the truck you need a bell for the 833 OD trans from the early 80s truck, or the bell from a small block car, but then the 11" clutch is not going to fit, they were all based on the 10.5" clutch setup (even the 10,9" something HD car clutch uses the smaller flywheel for that 10.5" clutch).

correct truck 11" bell on first, then slip 143 tooth fly up into and onto crank. bell has small machined grooves inside bell for fly clearance.. if the bell indeed has the bolt pattern for the 883/OD883 and 11' clutch install same way as truck..

or use B-body car bell/883 4 speed from a B-body car 130 tooth fly 10" clutch and the truck OD8383 shifter and mount plate. if cab has large floor hump then hole placement and shifter cover for stock look. small floor hump need cut/trim/shifter box made for floor/hump ez pz.

130 tooth fly 10" clutch external balance for a 360 or a neutral balance for 273/318/340

/6 130 tooth fly external balance will also work for 360
