Just wondering if anyone knows if he still has the car? Always liked that one. He was/is from the Chicago area if I recall correctly.
A quick google search didn't turn up much.
He used to run the King of the Street series back in the day. Yellow '69 super bee, convo pro wheels, Indy headed BB, pretty sure it had nitrous.

Saw him last year at a cruse night. He was driving an old Pontiac convert, but he told me he still has the Bee.

I'm sure I threw away all of the magazines I had with pictures of it; also find it odd I can't find any images online trying various search criteria confused

Thanks for the update OUTLAWSSAA! I was just curious about it. It's one of the cars that hasn't been seen out anywhere I guess.

I kept all my old magazines w/ pics of the KOS cars. There's a good wheelie pic of Rob's bee in the 727 rebuild book I have.

Last time I talked to him (years ago) he was putting a blower motor together for it. Did he ever get it done? I think it was on hold for kids college.

Yes, Fred B. I talked w/ him at Rockingham several years ago...may have been over 10 years ago now. Nice guy, his screen name here was "beekeeper", or something like that.
I know it was for sale not too long ago. Had a B1 headed big block w/ some nitrous. He was asking around 60k for it if I recall correctly.

I haven't been able to find a pic online of Rob's Bee. I'll take a pic of some I have at home and post it.

IIRC, when the ex-Chapman was for sale, it wasn't really the same car... had a lot of chassis mods and other stuff that took away from what it represented as a KOS car "way back when"... but the guy still wanted top $ because of the car's history... which it didn't really reflect any longer... IMO, naturally whistling

The only thing that was different, was a 4 link was installed, in place of the Super Stock Springs. Otherwise it looks identical to it's KOS days.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but doesn't a 4-link conversion require some level of "cutting up" the car? Maybe it's less of an effort than I realize and switching it back wouldn't be a big deal. Thx

Regardless, that car's fame was being a naturally-aspirated, full-bodied, leaf-spring car running on 10" tires. Just feels to me that going in a different direction takes it away from what made it so memorable. shruggy

For anyone interested...there's a guy on youtube with a bunch of KOS videos from Englishtown from the '90s.
Some aren't the best quality, but shows a lot of the old KOS races. Search his videos for "mopar etown". A lot are titled Indy head shootout...guess that was before they called it KOS?
There are many more than the one I linked below.

It's a race car. Race cars evolve over the years. I think Fred got tired of wrecking leaf springs every time out. If done right, putting in a 4 link on't butcher the car up to the point it couldn't be returned to stock.

And it was far from naturally aspirated. Richard O'Malley built the nitrous system and later to me on the phone to " throw it in the garbage or donate it to a museum.

Good info, thx. I hadn't been aware of everything that had been done to the car over the years and am probably guilty of still thinking about it in the context of that 1995 Hot Rod "Pump-Gas Big-Block Shootout" version: https://www.motortrend.com/features/title-bout-the-rematch-its-time-to-race-july-1995-982-1544-24-1/
