1997 Dodge Ram 3500

I am in need of pics from someone with the factory trailer wiring intact on their dually to post up some pics of the connections. None of the plugs I have match what I'm trying to add. I'll post pics shortly of the conundrum. I have confirmed multiple times that this is intended for my truck.

I'm trying to add a Curt 56071

My truck plugs

Brace yourself for a dumb question: Is the connector that you posted a picture of at the back of the factory trailer light connector at the bumper?

From the product link you provided:

"1. Locate the vehicles factory OEM trailer light
wiring harness. The harness will be connected to
the vehicle's 7-way trailer connector which is
mounted to hitch or bumper at the rear of the
vehicle. The harness will have a connector similar to
the paired connectors on the extension harness."

Where does it say that? Or am I supposed to go hunting for different threads?

This is why it's best to stick to one post about your question.

You have to find the plug that matches the one in the new harness(it just taps in). According to my 96 wiring(don't have 97) the 7 pin plug goes to 3 different plugs. It should be one of them. If you can get a factory manual each and every plug is in the back so you can see what they look like.

The traffic in the truck section is dismal at best.

I have the 1996 Ram service manual (1985 pages). I see where you mean now. Thanks.

Ok so the plugs I have pictured from my truck are on page 931, plugs 331and 332. So they are in fact factory connections. I'm betting that one of the PO's cut off the plug (that should plug into my Curt harness and then the Curt harness to the back of the 7-pin connector) for the 7-pin connector and just hard wired it to a new 7-pin connector.

I appreciate your help very much in finding the plug pics in the service manual.

I have determined the issue is that the plug Curt says works doesn't and I can't find the plug I need. This is on hold until I find the plug.

I'm betting the one you need no longer exists. Not many things for trucks from 27 years ago are still around new.
There are also pretty good odds your truck may not have ever had a kit available. The 7 pin plugs didn't become standard equipment for several more years.

It was the same plug on my 03 and the kit shows it fits clear to 2018 i think

I have found the connectors I need. For those interested and for anyone in the future the connectors are the following T25A10, G62B10
