After the block was re-honed for the 2nd time, the piston-to-wall clearance w/ my Ross pistons was up to .006-.007". I thought about putting on coatings to reduce the skirt clearance, but wasn't sure if it was worth it at the time.

abradable coatings are cutting edge and really make a difference - Line2Line did mine on the freshen up - side coating on the skirts and the top thermal barrier. I would even coat new pistons in any build I do going forward

Is this stuff different to the normal moly coated skirts you can get ? We got our Diamond pistons skirts coated from them, as after numerous rebuild / hones our piston clearance was on the larger side.

We use Line to Line for freshen ups frequently. Especially when customer doesn't need or want to spend the $$ for new pistons.

All of the KB Icon piston sets I've bought and used since around two years ago come with that on them without asking for it workup scope

The Line2Line abradable coatings are different from the standard moly coating that many pistons come with today

We use piston coatings all the time on refresh builds. Drag or circle track engines where everything looks good. Just hone it another thou or two and send the pistons out for coating. Saves some money and usually saves some time. Seems to work just fine.

I did a set for 4.500 bore pistons , built up for 4.5043 by Line2line. Worked great, and that 550 cube 440-1 alky motor made 926 hp at 7200 rpm. They can go as much as .020 overbore. Each .006 increase beyond the first is a bit more$$.
