If the GTX was a sub-model of the Belvedere, why was it counted under Satellites? Factory production numbers indicate 12,000+ were built. Is this number for just GTXs or GTXs & Satellites? Source for numbers hemmings.com.

GG's breakdown shows the GTX as a distinct model, 12,010 hardtops and 680 convertibles. I can't see how the GTX would be linked to a Satellite, the front fender badging says "Belvedere" and "GTX".

Seems an error to me. GTX was its own model, though it shared seat covers & interior side panels with Satellite.

6pak bee- I came to the same conclusion. What did GTX and Satellite have in common?

Topside- I believe the same. But people seem to overlook the error and accept what is stated on the numbers by the "experts". Thanks for the feedback to the both of you.

As Topside so accurately put it, the interior. There are some things like the rear finish panel that are close but not identical.
