Been trying to install my steering column coupler press pin. Is there some particular way it's supposed to go in or to install it? I've been beating on it with a hammer and it's only gone in far enough to where it doesn't fall out. I can't get it to go in all the way through the coupler and I'm afraid the power steering box might get effed up from all the pounding.

You have the coupler on all the way and aligned properly?

You should see a straight “hole” when you look in to that bore. Find a drill bit a tad smaller than the pin and it should slide in.

Yes, I can see clear through the round hole in the coupler. I also should mention, the steering box, coupler and pin are the originals to the car.

I assume you are talking about the roll / spring pin and NOT the hardened solid pin inside the box

IF so and its not going in with just some moderate effort. its not lined up right

One end of the pin has a tapered edge. It helps if you put that end in first

Try squeezing it in with a C clamp.
