...Motocross or karts? I had a friend who was 75 who raced enduro's until he passed due to cancer.
Have another friend(39) who got his 12 year old son into motocross and he started racing in the vet class. He never raced before.
I am thinking of starting to race karts again. I have an older CRG race kart that I used to use just for fun. I was selling it but my account got hacked and said f-it.
Called the local track and they have a 50+ class I can run. Last time I raced karts was in 1979.

Cool, DO IT!!! I raced the 60+ Vet Motocross Nationals (finals) at Mid-Ohio Vintage Days a few years ago and got second to the guy that won the series. I hadn't race in a longtime, so it was great fun as I was racing, and the pain memories of course show up that night and the next day laugh2

Found these:

Is that a 125cc engine? And is it a shifter kart?

Yes, 125cc Rotax DD2 (Direct Drive 2 speed) 32Hp
I think of it as a step below a "real"shifter which is normally 42+ HP with 6 speed gearbox. chain drive.Shifters are difficult to drive well especially on short tracks.
One time I ran against a shifter with a friend's buddy driving on a small track, He was really good he blew past me like I was running a 10hp 4 stroke.
Big difference between a shifter/DD2 and most race karts is shifter karts have F&R brakes.where as most karts are rear only..
Best workout on 4 wheels.

So is your kart a single (center) rear disc brake along with the double front discs I see? Also is that a Dell'Orto carburetor I see there? 36mm or 38mm carb? LOOKS LIKE LOTS OF FUN! up

Yes, single rear disc, solid axle that runs through gear box with 2 front discs and 2 m/c.
Paddle shifter with no lift shifting. The newer version will hit 100 mph on a big track like Summit Point in WV. I have mine geared for small tracks.
Dell'Orto 38mm.

Still race MX 2 or 3 times a year. Race woods/off-road (AWRCS & GNCC) about 3 times per year.

My buddy who raced enduro had a KTM 400 EXC I think.
MX is the most physically demanding from what friends have told me and you have to be a bit crazy.
I had a couple friends in Co. that raced bikes (flat track and Pikes Peak) in the 80s. They also did MX, whats funny they both either ran over a riders head or got their head ran over.

I think I am go to try to run a race once the weather gets cooler, my health deteriorates in summer. I just need a set of tires and do some test laps.
One nice thing about running vet class is no kids who are trying to move up or think they are the next Senna.
