Just ordered the dodge connection steering box brace for my 1989 Dodge Ram W250 4x4 with a 6" lift on 37's

Also just received in the mail my brand new Borgeson upgraded steering box & steering shaft.

So on the website it says I need these bolts:

4 - 7/16"- 14 x 1 3/4" Grade "8" bolts
6 - 7/16" Grade "8" Lock Washers
6 - 7/16" Grade "8" Flat Washers
2 - 7/16" Grade "8" Nuts

Now I know I will need longer bolts because mine is 4wd and the info on the website is for the 2wd. And the 4wd come with a side plate.

So do you think 2 1/4" should be long enough?

Also what length bolts to go up into the cross member under the radiator? I'm pretty sure I don't have to do any drilling because there's already a couple holes and a slot there.

If this is a copy of the factory bracket, the holes are there. Also the 3 bolts for the box mount are usually long enough. You'll just need a couple for the crosmember holes.

I just want to know what length bolts will work? The factory bolts will be too short once I add the brace. Probably not by much though. The description on the dodge connection site says 1 3/4 for the 2wd model. I'm wondering if 2" would be enough or 2 1/4"

for all the more the bolts would cost, and how few are needed, you could just grab several lengths to insure you had the correct length, then return the unused ones.
or keep 'em like i do, and wonder in the future why you have so many bolts you will never use in 6 lifetimes....... biggrin

If you do not mind me asking - what length bolt did you end up needing? I would like to add the info to our website

In this area, you but grade 8 bolts in 1/2" lengths once you get past 2" long. So you buy a 2" or a 2 1/2" long bolt. I suspect the 2" long bolt will be plenty long enough. As long as the full width of the nut is on the bolt threads when the bolt is tight, that is enough.
