Ok,
Friend of mine had a 408 stroker built. engine is Magnum 360 based.
but has water pump and timing cover thats LA based.

Issue he is having is a bypass hose to go from intake fitting to water pump fitting
Fitting in the intake is straight out the front AKA like a Magnum engine. Where as the LA based water pump requires a hose that comes out at an angle towards drivers side

Anyone ever run into this and come up with a hose that works , that doesnt kink making the odd transition?

I used a 45 degree adapter screwed into the intake. Then a short pipe nub into the adapter. Shortened the hose a little bit. Not exactly factory but it worked.

It is

BluePrint engines supplied the engine.
And he was told the pt number for the hose. Problem is,,,it kinks when installed , him not happy with that

He is trying his best to not do any redneck adapters if at all possible. But ultimately may not have much choice

Its going in what is most likely the best A100 out there,,,or at least dang close to it . He has put A LOT of time and effort in this truck

Pictures do not do it justice

Can the hose be trimmed to take the kink out?

well it is already assembled, but there are a lot of carb intakes for the magnum that use the la style bypass hose.
it would come out at the right angle for the LA style wp.
in fact it is harder to find the magnum straight out style installed then it is to find the LA style.
that would cure that hose problem and make it look more stock, but I don't know what intake you have on it now and what trade of you would have.
I think edelbrock is the only one that makes it with the straight out tap like that.
crosswind or some equivalent knock off does the angled one.

I dont think buying an intake is an option. Long block with intake and crab has already been engine stand test run

WHY they didnt leave the hose on it, Or chose this intake in the build process,, I have no idea. But most likely ,,,,, costs.

The serpentine drive with the reverse WP works very well. The A100 would hide it very well, and solve the whole dilemma.
Nice looking truck btw.

Back in my auto parts counter days, we used to sell wire inserted bendable non collapsing hose in normal heater hose sizes. I recall they came in five foot lengths. We would gladly sell a customer any length they needed. We weren't like the *holes that only sold it by the 1 foot or 5 foot lengths.

It is a weird choice honestly.
the edelbrock that is for the magnum is almost 500.
those knock offs are around 200 bucks.
they don't look as nice, but since they painted it, not sure that it matters.

I'm thinking a 90-deg fitting at the intake, oriented so the bypass hose is an upside-down U - might find a preformed hose you can use, or use a section of it.
Intake fitting hose size = to bypass hose size.
Looks like an AC compressor bracket that could cause interference; can't tell in the photo.
AC may hide the 45 already suggested.
Or, a longer bypass hose that runs under or behind compressor may be more elegant.

On my race LAs, I didn't run bypass - restrictor instead of thermostat - and we shortened the hose bibs on the WP & welded them closed.
Never had a cooling issue, but it wasn't a street car. Just mentioning it as a reference for cooling needs.

Just thinking out loud here, if you have a high-pressure hose maker in your area, I'd bet they could build something custom for less than $100. I know that's a lot of money for a short hose, but...

the bypass is a lot bigger than it needs to be, a little kink won't hurt as long as it can flow some. I know guys that restrict them intentionally to force more coolant thru the radiator and even one guy that just blocks em off all together but I wouldn't go that far.

The bracket you see is the throttle linkage for an A100

Yep, familiar with the project.....we're in alot of the same body and paint groups and such.

Anyway it appears to be a minor PITA, you trim the fitting, trim the hose, then contort the hose in just the right way to make it work.

It's an unusual punishment for using USA/Edelbrock (instead of crosswinds/Alibaba stuff), but Edelbrock wanted customers to use it with magnum truck front accessory drives.

MP changed most of the intakes to be this way towards the end of their run, and personally I hated it....thought it not only looked oddball but made life
difficult for everyone except those running magnum truck AC and accessory drives.

Blueprint obviously knows what to do but they aren't sharing the info.
I know a guy who writes really good instruction sheets, who will do it for a flat fee, but I'm sure they aren't interested LOL......

That photo reminds me of a SBC or BBC bypass hose. Might be worth grabbing from the parts store & checking.
May even be a SBF hose, but that's a dimmer memory.

Problem solved

Took two hoses. Cut them with a barbed fitting in the middle.

Looking at taking a heater hose shrink hose to cover / clamp it

Worst case It will be double clamped with so. He uses these style clamps on everything

Im building the trans here. And it should be done later today.
So fingers crossed the pkg will be in the truck the next few weeks
