MAPP needs a different amount of air (more) to burn properly. MAPP rated torches get their max heat when thecair/fuel ratio is correct.
However
Most MAPP Torches are not designed to put out enough heat to warm up a spindle. With actually heat source, you are heating up the spindle as fast as your are heating the bearing race, so no joy there.
You might try slitting the race part way through with a dremel cutoff and carefully Chisel it apar
An oxy-acetylene torch would makecshort work of this, but I imagine that is out of your budget.

Astrobuf I worked on it with a cutting wheel and a chisel. I may have ruined my spindle...I have been having a stroke of bad luck! Why would you think a torch is out of my budget? I have never had a use for one till now.

I have never had a use for one till now. I was afraid that was going to happen. A person who knows what they are doing makes anything look easy, others trying it for the first time...... I will repeat myself, weld a couple pieces of all thread on the bearing race and pull it off with a steering wheel puller. A low risk solution.

Thanks John! I am gonna take a few days off away from the car... Sometimes that's the best approach. if you're concerned about the spindle post a pic probably OK 🍻 Thanks TJP! I thought that I would put new brake shoes on...Simple task, right? My hands are old and weak...I can't get the springs back on....I quit!

Where are your younger car friends at? Someone can clearly step up and help you. Getting older blows the "Golden Years" myth out of the water. Not much golden about it imo.
Are you using the std. universal brake tool or just trying to stretch with pliers?

gettin' old ain't for sissies ! [or the "stronger" language of your choice ! ] i get so frustrated these day just doing simple things that i have done hundreds or thousands of times, only finding it's almost impossible for me these days, and when i'm done, i feel like i got run over by a truck or beat by a "studio rassler" ! one project i'm going to do pretty directly, is make a replacement saddle for my one floor jack, [aluminum jack of course, because i can't "rassle" my steel jacks around very good anymore ! ] that will look kind of like a two pronged fork. it will "cradle" an upright standing tire/wheel, and i can therefore pick up and install the assembly WAY easier than i can now, by just picking it up myself. the "forks" being made of solid round rod welded to a "drop style" saddle that will have a post on the bottom that fits the jack, will have a couple of pieces of electrical conduit [retained on the solid round rod, one inch, maybe 3/4, by a washer slightly larger than the conduit's OD welded to the end of the round rod] that will allow the tire/wheel to "roll", thus aligning the lug studs so the tire/wheel assembly can then be pushed onto the studs. this gotta' be better than me fumbling around trying to lift and align the bolt pattern, wearing me out in the process !

Use your welder to put down a bead around the outer part of the race. The heat will expand the race, and it will almost fall off. Works the same on inner races too, will shrink the race and fall out. THIS/\ Good idea. welding studs as someone else suggested to pull it off may do the same. I've cut and split 100's with a pnuematic cutting wheel and chisel.
