I had a 06 2500 2wd CTD Auto Mega cab new, got about 200K miles on it, trans started to go, AC quit, and the rear elec window broke that was over $1K to fix, over than that. truck ran good and I liked it, but got rid of it,

2006…. Terrible interior and probably the most uncomfortable seats in that line of pickups. 2006 manual…. Probably the biggest seller of gear vendor units was the “G-56” trans. The sixth gear isn’t much of an OD like the old NV5600, you’ll find yourself buzzing some pretty good rpm’s at freeway speeds. Saw a ton of people learn this the hard way back then. As stated common rail came out in 03. Rev the engine up…. It’ll hold top rpm briefly (they all do) and see if the rpm returns nice and even. If so injectors are happy on the mechanical side. As they age and start passing more fuel the engine will return to idle in a “stair step” fashion. When they start passing too much fuel rail psi won’t build and you get a “crank no start” scenario. Replaced a ton of injectors in the 120k-160k range on those 5.9s….. but yet have seen them go 300k. Yes I was kinda surprised that when in top gear at 60 mph it was buzzing at 2,000 rpm's. Thought maybe had a 4:10 rear gear ?? Looks like original ball joints which probably needs attention soon ? Truck seemed to handle okay but a 15 minute drive isn't long enough to determine. Again thanks for all the input.

Pretty similar to what everyone has said. I have revived the rear slider once and it has died again. All new a/c lines, one compressor (clutch failure) and one evap. I have had some sort of an aftermarket fuel system on it since 30k miles (now a FASS). 170k and stock injector bodies. Driver's seat is dead. I plan on swapping in 4th gen seats. First year of EFI live tuning for the common rail cummins. My biggest issue (my truck is an auto) is that I keep breaking billet input shafts. Been at 480hp+at the rear tire since 30k. 700 ish now.

Which brand inputs are you breaking ? I have a 2 piece TCS but I see now that sonnax sells a 1 piece ?

I broke every single standard spline TCS billet shaft they made (two piece, aramet, Az, Canada variant). I have the Sonnax 35 spline one finally.
